Because they’re not really concerned with the Gamer market, people playing Call of Duty aren’t their audience.

You say that like Sega rakes in so much money and makes nothing but top-notch games. Also remember that Nintendo’s stocks and company size will plummet if they stop making consoles, spelling disaster for them.
This is how I know you don’t believe a word of what you just said
Well, Sega never really recovered from the downfall of Dreamcast, did they. Marginally successful games often critically unacclaimed. Let Nintendo be the odd one out. If one won’t buy a Nintendo console to play their games, it’s one’s own loss.
If you’re just going to call anyone who disagrees with you the “Nintendo Defense Force” then it doesn’t seem like you actually want to have an honest conversation about this topic. Suffice to say, I disagree with you, and there are plenty of reasons for doing so beyond just being a fan of the company.
Yeah, because it’s been such a lucrative thing for Sega to leave the console business. They’re a shell of their former selves.
Embrace Sega’s path? Have you seen Sega lately?
I agree. I dislike the odea of Nintendo going software only. The Wii and Wii U gave us fteat games with unique controllers. On the smart phone, they could get lost in the massesxand chase stupidity similar to every clone. Also what happens when lust is satiated?
I for one am glad there’s one company that’s willing to take chances with hardware innovation instead of regurgitating the same console with shinier graphics generation after generation. Nintendo going third party would be a huge loss for an industry that is badly in need of some creativity.
Not sure if the Sega reference was meant to be ironic.
Why is it comments sections in Nintendo articles have such a different vibe than comments sections in any other gaming-related article?
On what planet is Sega successful?
This comes as investors were confused over how Pokémon Go will benefit Nintendo, causing stock prices to plummet.
I don’t know if it will outsell those systems, but it will sell a helluva lot. There’s still many people out there who would love to buy the classic NES (albeit mini) and play some of the classic Mario games. And unlike the other junk retro game systems being reproduced out there, this one will be by the original…
I, for one, don’t want Nintendo going down the same path as Sega. You just have to look at the recent slate of Sega games to see why.
FWIW I’m buying one when it releases. Its a cheap way to relive some very good classics in a convenient and travel friendly package. I owned most of them back in the day and since I no longer own any Nintendo consoles its a good deal for me (And I get to throw some money at Nintendo which is always good if its helps…
So no real losses then, just failed to make their projected profits.
Also, Nintendo can run a deficit for 38 years and not give a shit.
The secret weapon that everybody is underestimating is the NES Mini.
