Having a 22 year old car, the best thing I can recommend is preventative maintenance.  If you can, do your own oil changes.  When the pan is draining, take the time to look at the rubber suspension bits, check the brake and washer fluid, make sure that there aren’t any leaks.  Replace the worn suspension bits…
