There are so many on the road because the first owner had it for 10 years and only put 12,000 miles on it going to church and bridge night at the senior center. They’re really just as awful and unreliable as any GM product of that era.

I believe recalls on safety (seatbelts, airbags, etc.) and emissions don’t expire. Other recalls can (Toyota has ended recalls on older trucks for rusty frames for example, so if you didn’t get the work done, you’re mostly on your own, though I’ve heard of Toyota still helping people in that situation).

Struts are not easy to buy for these, very few places sell parts for these. Try to find new rear struts or a rear half shaft anywhere. Makes owning one a real pain.
