Well said, OP. I too enjoyed this ep. Season 8 is looking good so far. Maybe not quite up there with the last season, but still enjoyable.

Am expecting a major showdown between Dexter and Dr. Vogel in episodes to come.

Totally agree. That said, I really wasn't expecting anything like Deb's attempted murder-suicide (certainly not this early on in the season anyhow). Superb twist!

Personally, I think Deb rules this season. She's overtaken Dexter as my favourite character at this point. And this is coming from someone who was mildly indifferent to her in the earlier seasons. Deb is now as engaging to watch as Doakes was in the early days of the series.
