It’s coming to the point where it’s professional degree (so, undergrad plus grad school) or STEM. Everything else seems to accrue huge loans with little chance of attaining a well paying job (of course there are exceptions).

Yep. Though, we put every single expense we can on our credit card (we only have the one). It’s never more money than I have on hand, but I figure, if we’re going to pay the expenses, might as well get 1-5% cash back. This month is 5% back at Amazon. Guess what part of my budget has gone up.

The way I’ve avoided credit card debit is abiding by what my mother taught me: Never spend more money on a credit card than you have sitting in the bank.

I think this intuitively makes sense. If a person is complaining about something, and you step into their shoes and you overcome it, you’d be far less empathetic to those who either didn’t overcome it or have yet to overcome it.
