I can’t wait to buy it... on sale next year for $14.99!

it makes them look incredibly fucking dense.
Wonder how this affects educational games. I’ve worked at a very large public university for the past 10 years, and a lot of my work involves developing games and VR interactives. I’ve been using Unity for most of the past decade for these types of projects, so I’m hoping this new model won’t affect things, but if it…
6 stories about this game on the front page. How many pointless Starfield articles is this site going to churn out?
The amount of justification and apologetic attitude towards a game built by a large studio with decades of experience and now Microsoft cash is just weird.
Pretty much this. I laughed at the “physics OMG” article, because that’s a big reason WHY so many other, more important and fun features were not included, so you could stuff a room full of potatoes and not have the engine crash.
Way to miss the point entirely.
I saved $70. Happy about that.
They’ll never do it because of the mod community. Their relevancy as a development powerhouse stems almost entirely from people being able to make their games orders of magnitude better after the fact.
I’m super glad I cancelled my Amazon pre-order last week after initial impressions were coming from early access players.
They don’t care, because their entire design philosophy anymore is just creating a sandbox framework for modders to tinker and fix.
Bethesda can’t write interesting stories or characters to save their lives.
Likely won’t happen. They’re limited to what the engine is capable of, and since they refuse to ditch the Creation engine (likely due to the massive modding community), you’re stuck with the segmented experience.
Really glad I cancelled my Amazon pre-order. This game sounds like yet another overhyped Bethesda game that’s stuck with the limitations of their engine.
I’m just amazed grown adults still take time off work to play a game, especially those without kids.
Yes. I can play RDR2, Forza 5, and many other open world games at very high settings at 30fps or higher.
I think the real turnoff is how segmented the world is (likely due to their engine’s limitations). It probably didn’t seem like an issue 8 years ago, but more than a few space games have done a good job of conveying the feeling of the vastness of space travel since then. Hell, even Ubisoft’s Starlink: Battle for…
That the beginning is a bore is a real red flag to me. I don’t have the patience anymore to waste 15+ hours for a game to be “interesting”.
Yep, this sounds like a Bethesda-in-space game. I think I may wait until official mod tools are released and folks start tinkering and adding in more interesting planets/quests/features, etc.
Not really. Rockstar actually takes the smart approach and engages in virtually zero pre promotional hyping of any game they’re working on. Quite the contrary, they go out of the way remaining radio silent and withholding any official announcements until the product is nearly finished and ready to ship. That’s one…
