All pretty sound advice.

Regarding the HD space issue, I think the HD manufacturers would be given a break if they used gigabyte to mean 1,000 megabytes (real megabytes (1024KB)) instead of 1,000,000,000 bytes. They would be off by a much lesser magnitude. Of course, then they might as well just report the actual number of gigabytes.

First off, great starter's guide. I've been using QS for a couple years now and love it. I always look forward to little guides like this as there's always something new to learn (compression plugin).

I'll jump back on this bandwagon...

I've never been one for watching TV or movies in window on my computer screen. If I must multi-task, I'll bring out the laptop while watching TV.

Regarding the compression ends, how much should I strip off the end? What I'm mainly concerned with is if I should be stripping the shielding down to the white insulation or not. I've heard conflicting advice and the ends seem to fit better when the shielding is stripped off. Any ideas Spare_Change or bdjohns1?
