“Think “Girl you wish hadn’t started a conversation at a party”. Or “high school drama kids” or the many one-offs where the show has a specific point of view that IS making fun of a particular kind of leftist.”

In this particular instance I think the joke was more about if people are going to be upset over the “Republicans prefer Trump to ___” polls which are always going around, then getting upset if he’s better liked than a slave-owner probably isn’t the best use of anger.
Mostly throw shade at Rian Johnson. She apparently feels like all Rey wants is a family and with Han dead, she wanted Luke to be her surrogate father, which obviously didn’t happen either. She was also apparently unsatisfied with the whole “Rey’s parents are random drunkards” reveal.
So that’s Boyega and Daisy Ridley cancelled this week. Adam Driver better watch his mouth.
Only if they are kissing!!!! While Idris Elba watches. Man I got a pretty specific kink don’t I
Fine, using the word “weak” if it could be seen as applying to someone else may have been a poor choice. But my god is he 100% correct. People in general have GOT to realize that “Twitter blowing up” over something is maybe a few thousand people out of the 330 million in this country. It’s not reality. I can’t…
So, because a couple of slackjawed yokels on Twitter were offended on somebody else’s behalf, Boyega has to apologize for a statement in which he clearly was talking about himself.
I’d say quitting social media and walking away shows more strength than most of us have.
Joker is a grimy, unpleasant movie that shamelessly apes better movies, isn’t as nihilistically insightful as it wants everyone to think it is and only has what cultural cache it’s managed to accrue due to shamelessly plundering from much superior comic books it simultaneously seems to think it towers above.
It might have done well but it is polarizing. For everyone that sees it as a subversive take on the superhero genre there is another that sees it as an inept and flaccid attempt to be the next Taxi Driver.
And this is after the fact that they gave it a positive grade and review too, a fact Jesse even came into the comments section to acknowledge.
Don’t worry. “Jojo Rabbit” is going to win best picture because it is an uplifting, lighthearted take on Nazi atrocities. Why it isn’t on this list is a mystery to me.
AVC Writers be like: “Come on, come on, come on, please please please cause a mass shooting, we really need those clicks.”
Spending the months leading up to Joker’s release anticipating how bad it will be and then putting it on the worst of the year list for not living down to your expectations is pretty much Peak 2019 AV Club.
Clearly the right response is for everyone who didn't go to tweet about it and make up whatever shit they want about how much he sucked.
Remember “Splinter of the Mind’s Eye”?
Lucas published the novelization half a year before the film came out.
The same housekeeper also discovered Boyega’s copy of the Pacific Rim 2 script. It sold on a street corner for two of those extras buttons you occasionally get with a shirt and half a pouch of Big League Chew.
Jared Leto furiously takes notes.
So the actor who plays a turncoat stormtrooper nearly sabotages the ending to the trilogy of the ending of the trilogy?
