This is slightly off-topic because there is a LOT to say about the Ks treatment of Jordyn, but was anyone else seriously disturbed (though not surprised, given the family’s intense dysfunction) that Tristan threatened to kill himself to get out of being accountable for his behavior, and that he apparently does this

Wouldn’t it be amazing if this information signaled to policy leaders and decision makers that women need sufficient time off from work to have their infants reap the greatest benefits of breastfeeding?

HAHAHA. Yeah. Right. Instead it will only cause moms to feel guilty and for shitty people to shame moms for pumping

Public health insurance pays for it and all employers, big or small, pay to the public health insurance for all their employees. None of this “if you have fewer than X employees or if they work less than Y hours you don’t have to pay”-crap. If you have a job, you’re insured. Everyone has the same benefits (although

Culture to him is what you get when you mix mayo, cottage cheese, and privilege.

No no, didn’t you read the whole thing? He writes like Hemingway.

I didn’t know that gay students are something to be “handled.”

Later in the letter, Sparks wrote: “Regarding diversity, I’ve now told you half a dozen times that our lack of diversity has NOTHING to do with the school or anyone at the school. It’s not because of what we as a school has or hasn’t done. It has nothing to do with racism or vestiges of Jim Crow. It comes down to 1)

Ah, the old, “Well, we used to do it this way” reasoning.  My retort is always, “Yeah, well we used to ride horses everywhere. We used to have polio. And we used to paint our houses with lead but we don’t do THAT shit anymore, do we?” They usually shut up after that.

As a european I feel like I’m in bizarro world when people are sooo grateful for 12 measly weeks. I was home for over a year with my son and I still think he was too young when I went back to work and he had to go to daycare

It boggles my mind that maternity leave in the US is so short. I am Canadian and where I work, my firm even tops up the parent’s salary who is on leave for a year. I’m also an old childless crone, but you know what? I don’t begrudge young families these benefits. These are things that are long overdue.

If you’re going to make rules to mandate this, stop making so many exceptions to avoid doing it. Employers are getting really cute avoiding these rules, by keeping the headcount below the minimum level, or making full-time employees into part-time, or by laying off staff before they qualify, or by classifying

“You were at my wedding, Linda!" I'll see myself out for raising that stupid meme from the dead.

Just when I thought it was as bad as it got. Half a dozen women attacked, half a dozen children jailed, and this woman is crying because her reputation is in tatters? Tell us what’s really important Linda.

Despite any legitimate good work she has done on behalf of women and those impacted by violence

This woman does not get it.

She was the head of the Manhattan sex crimes unit?
