My main objection to abolition of ICE is that I am afraid of whatever Trump branded abomination would take it’s place, like the brown shirts, but orange.

I would as well, but we have more than enough evidence of massive administrative incompetence from the top down, as well as doing their best to prevent any non-whites from entering the country.

It is supposed to take only six months, but there are dozens of steps in the process, and right now the backlog of applications alone is 10 months to 2 years, depending on who you ask, plus things can happen that can set you back in the process.
