Ugh I had the unfortunate experience of being in the same doctor’s office as Dax 10+ years ago and I can still smell the experience. He smells like 100M cigarettes and this is from a normal distance away, we weren’t sitting next to each other. Can also confirm he’s an ass to receptionists.

A child of a very, very wealthy celebrity who was launching a brand with my IG name offered to “give me an alternative IG handle for free” in exchange for my IG handle that I had been using for years. When I proposed a payment of $5K I got all sorts of ridiculous messages from their assistant re: how they will not pay

YAS! She’s still one of the biggest “Who?”s in “Who?”ville!

Second on the Robert Welsh and James Welsh recommendations, they are great! I also love Susan Yara for Face Care and Jen Phelps for make up hauls for honest makeup reviews and eye palette swatches (she doesn’t do sponsored posts).

Yes, and many of these endorsements are referring to the book rather than the film. Does marketing team for this thing assume their target audience won’t notice that?

Fascinating, I’ll look for the episode. Also, now I will never not think of the fridge as a morgue. So...there’s that. lol.

We outdo all nations in the very specific arena of cheese-plastics.

I lived in Europe for 6 years and the milk products are so_good. I imagine it would be hard for your mom to tolerate American yogurt.

Yes, I used carton coconut milk. I’ll try the oat milk, that’s a good idea. I’m down for any recs that let me avoid dairy (I love dairy, it doesn’t always love me).

I go steel oats in the winter, yum!

Thanks!

Okay. I have a bag of Muesli from Trader Joe’s sitting in my cabinet. How do I eat it? Overnight oats? I tried just pouring coconut milk and eating immediately...bleh.

I could not agree more. It is totally irresponsible and unethical for a school outside of the top 10 in the field to take on grad students with any hope of their students obtaining a job in academia. It’s a disgrace.

I have only met a few recent PhD grads with that attitude. That’s more like a tenure-track professor kind of attitude.

As a former academic who went into private research I can attest that many academics who stay feel a calling to higher ed. akin to a religious calling. And to those who say “these PhDs should just ____”, keep in mind that nothing about a drastic career change is simple. PhDs are not necessarily trained to teach

That’s a cute video and she’s got some above average moves for her age group. I don’t think she would make the cut for Dance Moms quite yet, but lord hear my prayer and put Beyonce in the bleachers with those thirsty, thirsty momagers.

NPR 100% has gender issues. Earlier in the year a former NPR reporter, Anders Kelto, did a feature on an academic book, interviewed both authors, but then only featured the male author’s segment AND DID NOT EVEN MENTION THE FEMALE AUTHOR AS A COAUTHOR. The Chronicle of Higher Ed featured an op ed about it as another
