Yeah, my response to “Who knew?” was “Well, I did, why didn’t you?”

I think the internet has finally disproved the idea that people will do the right thing if given the information, so your conscience should be clear on that point. Nobody should be surprised that alcohol abuse causes problems and kills people; the issue is that most people don’t think “and that could be me”.

The funniest part of these comments is the complaint about how unrealistically newspapers are depicted, instead of pointing out that reporters rarely turn into giant humanoid turtles.

The issue isn’t so much that “people ... don’t want to accept that this happens” but that lots of people know it happens and have experienced it first hand. Kent’s comment is massively tone deaf.

I’m sure the delivery people are absolutely pleasant to you. You pay their tip.

I’m totally with you on that. I’m not working unless I get paid. I didn’t mean to imply that people should sit on their cardboard box outside the front door and make up a transition plan.

I think all of these dogs could be improved with a healthy splotch of ketchup. Preferably ice cold, straight from the fridge.

It’s not extra work, presumably you get paid for doing it like anything else in the workday. At my organization there’s a lot of freedom to work independently and the transition details would be critical. It’s simply professional behavior.
