The joy in Unfortunate Events was actually the repetition… basically 13 books which repeat their own literary memes, making you delight in both recogninsing and anticipating events, and also picking up on the slight changes. Plus the wordplay was hands down the best I've ever experienced.

I said a 'close second'… nobody can beat Tim Curry!

Awesome, I'm a ridiculously slow reader, so this feature is not for me, but I have to give props to anything Handler is involved in. If it's possible to be criminally underrated yet also be a millions-selling author, then Handler is it.

I can totally help you out. I like all their material, but the albums that do it for me the most are Searching for a Former Clarity and New Wave, which fall flat in the middle of their career/jump to the mainstream.

Just letting you know that I broke through the barrier and am now firmly enjoying Virtue's Last Reward. It's so fun I had to tell someone about it!

Got to give you that one!

I for one welcome our new (Phil) [over]Lord ( and Chris Miller).

Just letting you know, I ordered Clone High on DVD, and am suitably pumped about their new Last Man on Earth. Thanks for the recommendation!

Think my favourite AM! "love" song is 'Borne on the FM Waves of the Heart'.

I'll never understand people who subscribe to the the 'the first album was great but everything else sucked' camp (AM! usually extends the parameters to Eternal Cowboy, but still). It's such a sad way to live. Usually if I like an artist, I will dig or at least appreciate all of their output. I honestly can't think of

Another one of the few!

That's the best obscure OC reference so far.

There's a palpable sense of excitement and willingness to go the extra mile from the creators in every scene. It's miles deep in hilarious intricate jokes… it differentiates itself from the generic 'adult humour' that most animated films sprinkle on top of their movies in order to sell tickets to parents.

That sounds amazing. Bill Lawrence is in the mix too, apparently. Definitely going to get it on DVD.

Clone… High?

This movie was always going to be awesome, it's from the team behind the Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs team (and also 21 Jump Street, if that's your thing). Phil Lord and Chris Miller. They are genius. I want to see this movie regardless of the fact that I didn't really like Lego as a kid. I was more into Duplo.

Me too. I've never been so entertained by Shia LaBeouf. All this ridiculous stuff… I don't understand why the oddball-appreciating AV Club community isn't eating it up, instead of being all "toe the line, LaBeouf!". Come on, how much more interesting is this guy as a mindfuck than as a guy who makes friends with

That is such an incredibly healthy, real life experience. I don't think I've ever had one of those. Kind of jealous.

I feel like nobody here is towing the 'but nobody can replace Statham! He's more than British and bald. He's also short. But also other things too maybe!' line.

When did this whole 'You know what's cool?' Jesse Eisenberg thing come into play? It seems so recent, so hot right now. Or has it been cool with the kids since Social Network? Either way, I'm in.
