Wow, that’s actually lighter than I expected. By today’s standards, though, the 525i/530i weighing in at 3500lbs is positively featherweight. How much did the 540i wagons weigh? And IIRC, the e39 M5 was around 2 tons.

Yes, please! Doug, if you’re ever in LA, I’d love to see you make the rounds of the podcasts; Hooniverse, TST, Car Stories, etc.

I believe it’s JF Musial; IIRC, he orchestrated the entire DRIVE network from the beginning. I think it’s safe to say that DRIVE is done.

Can confirm; I went to the show a few years ago. Didn’t get on stage, but my dad won the $100 door prize!

That’s what college is for; if you’re not wealthy enough to know the US’s failures, they want you to work hard to protect the country.

Well, he’s gone, dontcha know? Just kidding, I have no idea.

Oh god, if it wasn’t so true.

Sounds like you have a great bracket racer there!

Holy... The hydrogen in the air is burning?! WTF!

So true. But remember, we’ve had 104 years to learn about the Titanic; only 40 or so for Vietnam. School curriculum changes about as fast as a glacier.

Heh, entirely possible!

I'm happy to see it, too, as this ensures the preservation of the class as a whole.

I've always wondered the same. What happened to our old aristocratic heritage (as a descendent of Welsh and German ancestors).

I'll be honest, it looks quicker than my e39 530i...

Just like the Queen Mary in Long Beach. I don’t know, honestly, how I feel about that. It’s also sad that the interior is gutted, as, at least in the QM, it’s still really luxurious.

If I recall correctly, the contact patch of a massive mile-long freight train is less than the contact patch of a single passenger car. Add to that metal-on-metal vs rubber-on-road and stopping can take, literally, miles.

Oh man. If the SS United States ever sails again, I WILL be onboard for the maiden voyage.

Thanks!
