If you read the text on it, that’s actually an oil fill point. Both inspired by racing 911s, IIRC.

I already bought a used swap kit that included a gearbox, shifting forks, driveshaft, trans mount, rear diff (2.93 vs 3.46 in autos), flywheel, clutch, pedals and clutch hydraulic assembly.

Still a gas cap! Like an old racing 911, or an old VW Bug.

Gas cap.

The rear grille-thing on the hatch folds out at speed to become a wing. But yeah, it would look awesome with a big whale-tail.

Haha, thanks! I have access to a 1995 Camry should I need reliable transportation, and I live at home with no student debt (‘cause my family’s awesome) and a part time job (24+ hours a week), so no worries on the QOL front!

It’s so good, I use it for pizza deliveries in my hometown.

2003 e39 530i. It’s going to be a heck of an undertaking for me, considering I’ve never done more than shocks on a car, and I will be pulling the entire driveline apart!

Did the whole rooting-thing on a first-generation Kindle Fire to install a standard version of Android. The Fire now serves as a dedicated OBD2 information screen through Torque, and it works marvelously! Old devices are incredibly useful, especially as embedded media devices.

... and here, ladies and gents, is why computiNATEor is taking the slush box in his 530i right now and replacing it with a proper manual transmission. Just as soon as I can afford the parts...

They look WAY better in person. A lot more presence, especially when you get to see their relative size. But I still don’t care for the peanut headlights...

Hahaha!

Yikes. I’m willing to bet the radio didn’t work, lol. After my own e39 accident, I was really impressed how well the car held up. No issues with doors or anything, despite sustaining a huge left front impact. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthr…

Believe me, I know how hard it is to find a manual sedan these days. Spent 8 months searching for the manual e39 530i I wanted, then settled for one that had everything but the manual. Manual swap is starting this spring. :)

Me, too! :)

Ouch! :( As an e39 owner, that must have been painful. Totaled? And no, while the exhaust tips might not be stock, the cats and pre-axle resonators could be.

I wish that were true. However, you’re leaving out the $1200/each headlights that will point at the ground at some point, the ABS module that will become a BS module, and the interior displays which will eventually turn “Fasten Seat Belts” to “ as eat Bel”, and lop a digit off the mileage. And the wealth of old

Nope. No parts, and I call about every 2 weeks. It’s called PASoft, or “BMW Scanner 1.4”. I bought mine here (with a month for shipping from China), and no, it’s way out of date. Not really much to update, TBH. Software is at version 1.4.1.0, I believe. Lots of copies of the software online, especially around the BMW
