I can beat that! My grandmother’s gold 05 Honda Accord has just over 10k miles on the clock. Talk about showroom fresh!

A HANS device is not designed to protect against compression. From the Wiki article: “The purpose of the HANS device is to keep the head from whipping forwards and backwards in a crash, without otherwise restricting movement of the neck.” Been go-karting lately? A foam pad between your shoulders and helmet like they

I was lucky enough to see two this year! One at Bimmerfest, one at Pebble Beach! I was so stoked each time!

The cause of death is clear. What we can learn from an investigation, however, is what can be changed to improve the safety for other drivers moving forward. Some kind of neck support to prevent the head from compressing into the back? “Soft” outer shell helmets? Who knows. But if we don't learn anything, we deprive

Don’t forget just a few years ago we lost Dan Wheldon, Dario Franchitti had a career ending accident, Jason Leffler, Allan Simon... Racing is a dangerous sport. We have to accept that, see what we can do better at next time, and move on. Best wishes to Wilson’s friends and family.

Well, the polycarbonate could be secured to the car in a similar manner as the current brace that drops in above the driver’s shoulders. Maybe a trick ejector button?

The worst I’ve ever seen was this Abt Audi R8. Check out Jessi Lang’s story on the Motor Trend channel.

Mmm. Hot, sticky rubber is best rubber! (and yes, you can take that anywhere you want)

Looks incredibly difficult to get in/out of. Also, this car was very dominant.

This made me laugh way harder than I should have... Thanks!

Haha! That was the weirdest entrance/exit to any event that I’ve ever experienced. And my car was covered in this weird brown dust. :/

Was he involved like the chicken or dedicated like the pig? ;-)

I’d absolutely spank it, if I could afford to... Life goals!

It's awesome, and entry is free, if you can cough up a $20 parking fee or snag a ride with someone else.

There is a vast difference in purpose between the two. The SL is a luxury cruiser, whereas the GT is a super sports car. The SL also weights a ton more (figuratively speaking) and comes with a folding hardtop.

There was a whole line of them this year, too. They even had an e9 race! Whose window went up the fastest! ;)

I spoke for a few minutes with the gentlemen that owned these two lovely R8s. Both chose the R-tronic auto clutch trans because they didn’t want to worry about missing shifts on the track. I was simultaneously happy they track them, but sad that they didn't choose the lovely gated manual.
