I think it’s a pretty generic Toyota shifter from the 90s. Looks like the one in our XV10 Camry.

Quite right. My father’s 86 Toyota 4x4 pickup had a nice soft touch-plastic dash until he put Armor-All on it. Literally a month later, a massive crack had opened up on the passenger side.

“You! Why didn’t my death ray kill you?” “Death ray?!”

I was wondering the same thing. Weird.

BMW automatic transmissions aren’t exactly known for their longevity either...

Now THAT is badass! Love it!

Jeez, I want stuff like this so badly. The plastic buttons in my e39 no longer cut it.

Probably from the donor vehicle, and it simplifies replacement should that ever be required. My BMW has plastic end tanks as well, and it hasn’t yet failed in 12 years and 100k miles. I doubt this truck will get close to that figure in miles, but age is possible.

YES! This or a 63-65 Buick Riviera. Still my favorite vintage American iron, ever.

It’s meant to symbolize an “equals” sign with a slash through it - like on a piece of paper, rather than the more typical != used in programming.

I was imagining the flames spitting with each downshift... And that is BIG speed!

And they’re not terribly expensive! Seriously, this will (hopefully) be the first classic car I own.

Such a great track! It’s a blast in the virtual world; I can’t imagine what it’s like IRL.

Nope. By the way, it’s Local Motors who makes the Rally Fighter. Check out the Jay Leno’s Garage episode on it.

Didn’t all 540i wagons have slush boxes? I’m getting fed up with my 530i’s Steptronic POS. Needs a torque converter because of a cheap $2 seal.

But there’s no SPORT button here, unlike the M5s! ;) I would take one of these things in a heartbeat.

The face of a man who’s seen some things...

It’s so obvious: She’s relieved he made it back safely. He’s relieved that the car is still (sort-of) working.

“Where’s the nearest rental car agency?”

Not digging this wheel... Looks like a bloated stingray (the animal, not the car).
