Apple Maps is good for one thing: Flyover view on a Mac. Everyone’s impressed at the speed and smoothness, but the navigation is (politely) crap.
I haven’t laughed so hard in a month! Thanks! :)
Worth their weight in gold. Especially in south Orange County.
God, that sounds like the people who order gluten-free pizzas from the place I work. People in SoCal are crazy. I am moving out to AZ as soon as I can afford to.
Let’s see.... Glasses, unkempt facial hair, slightly square face... Yep, sure looks like me!
“Oh! And got Bizzay! It’s a whole family of supers!”
Generally, the most reliable BMWs ever made were the e30 3-series and the e28 5-series. I met an e28 528i owner whose car had 700k miles on the original engine, transmission, differential, and only the third clutch. Very impressive.
Generally, those will need to be replaced around 80-120k.
The basic BMW engine - the old naturally aspirated I-6s - will last for hundreds of thousands of miles, and the manuals will often outlive the vehicle. Clutches are famous for going more than 100k all the time. It’s everything else that gets expensive! Water pumps, radiators, thermostats, all the f*^%$&*…
That’s what I meant; the bolts strip the block. Overheating in the early 2000s Bimmers is a symptom of a neglected cooling system; the plastics used in the system (like the water pump impeller and thermostat housing) can fail quickly, and the temperature gauge won’t start to climb until the engine reaches a…
If you need to replace the head gasket on a BMW straight 6, you might as well throw away the engine. The soft aluminum blocks is infamous for stripping head bolts, and if the head gasket failed because of overheating, then it’s likely that the head is cracked, too.
Could we do a series about Mechanic Honor stories? Like the time my mechanic did an extensive, three hour inspection on my e39 (including computer diagnostics) and charged me nothing!
It’s in the greater LA area.
Found it! Though the “ad” photo is heavily photoshopped (including making the area greener). Lake Hughes Rd, facing south. GPS coordinates (just put them in Google Maps): 34.524548, -118.57551
Mostly the same. Some corners may change over time, like how the final hairpin now has a large sweeper before it (through a parking lot!). Little things like the rumble strips/cones/fences near the apex of turn 5 (for example) (track map) change as well. Nothing too drastic. Kinda like Monaco over time.
I'm lucky if it takes less than 45 minutes for my 22 mile (one way) commute... So I'm in the same boat.
