I was pretty horrified by the trailer when it first came out.

The weird thing is that is is exploring misogyny and assault and being very self-aware of the dynamics, but it is very uncomfortable to begin with. And knowing that he was actually doing these things to real people behind the scenes (or at least did, not sure when/if he stopped) makes it a bit more creepy. I stopped…
Everything that has been written about this, and where he admits that the stories as described are true.
They did not say yes. Well, one of the five did. The others definitely did not, and one he did not even ask. Where are you getting this from?
I think there is a difference between being able to access the changing room as your identified gender, and gender-neutral, meaning unsegregated dressing rooms. It is not the end of the world, but I do think it makes things more uncomfortable for teens trying on clothes for their friends and coming out to look at the…
My roommate and I took some really goofy pictures of barricading ourselves inside our apartment after I was mugged at gunpoint and my keys and license with my address were stolen. Lots of people deal with trauma through humor.
TL:DR: The writers at the Post are journalists, and the writers at Jezebel proved that they’re....something else.
The story with named victims has been out for 20 minutes or so (forever in internet time).
Wait no longer:
I mean, I kind of like the cover, but the article....WTF did I just read?
To be fair, I don’t think they have the same resources to protect against libel suits, and there are likely people willing to go on record now, after the Weinstein story, who wouldn’t have been willing to go on record before. But I do think that Jezebel and Gawker (RIP) have internally inconsistent views of when they…
I think all the takes above don’t necessarily contradict each other. Identity politics can be a crucial tool while at the same time being divisive. The problem is when groups (white people) see the divisions as being caused by identity politics, rather than being pointed out by identity politics.
I think Lord of the Rings is a big reason for this in general. It is basically the father of all medieval-esque fantasy novels, the definition of the genre, and is virtually all-male and all-white. And while Tolkien I think denied that it was a direct allegory of WWI, it definitely was influenced by English soldiers…
I love that story.
Don’t feel like you need to prove anything or respond. I think everyone realizes how weird and creepy meteor is being.
It just seems like there would have to be something more to the story. If she had confessed that she hit him hard over the head with a paddle and then took away his paddle and took the plug, that seems more plausible. Wouldn’t he notice that his kayak was slowly taking on water and turn to shore? Honestly, I don’t…
I know. I was just clarifying that when I wrote “very young” that Richards was describing them as possibly legal but wasn’t sure, which supports him being capable/interested in assaulting 13-year-old, male, Haim, versus “very young kids” which might normally be taken to mean 4-year-olds.
But, how did she take it away if he was holding on to it? I mean, she could have, but it seems like she would have had to fight really hard, unless the water was freezing cold.
