I don’t know. My daughter doesn’t seem to differentiate between her Barbie doll and her dollar store cheap plastic dolls. She is almost 7. You can definitely tell the differences between the dolls (eye shape, type of hair, all cloth body, vs. plastic on top) but not all the differences make one type of doll better

I spent a lot of time researching this after my daughter accidentally got a glance at an American Girl catalogue at a friend’s house. There are an amazing number of blogs comparing the different brands. She asked for one for Christmas and we got her the Walmart version (My Life). I don’t think she really thinks

I mean, the reason kids play with dolls like this is to change their clothes. Not being able to take off the underwear would piss most kids off, not just adult collectors. I speak as the parent of two small children. We only have knockoff dolls, but changing underwear is a key part of the whole outfitting

It was slightly scandalous that we were allowed to watch it at my friend’s sleepover birthday party. But I thought it was because the dancing was “dirty”.

I think I was 4th grade when it came out on video? So the whole abortion thing went right over my head.

You can love Dirty Dancing (but if you do, it’s probably your nostalgia talking)

I think the issue was that the names in the report were redacted, but that all the other info in the report made it really easy to identify (from what I remember) three of the four victims. The internet had identified Jill and Jessa before they ever came forward. I have no idea what that means legally though...

I think that “glow” is way too much orangey foundation. But I don’t mind the dress.

See, I am shaped like a silly putty egg and am short, but short rompers are way more flattering on me than skirts, because they can be shorter and they don’t have an abrupt color transition at my non-existent waist. But I hate the naked pee...

I think both things are important, although I am equally sick of rehashing Clinton. It is not like the vast majority of the electorate votes on careful policy consideration. They either vote for their side if they are heavily tribally identified with a party, or they vote with their gut based on who they like more,

I mean, I voted against her in the primary in 2008 and 2016 because I thought she was the weaker candidate in the general, but I was very happy to vote for her for president. There are many views on strategic voting versus voting for your ideal. I would love to have some sort of instant runoff to solve some of the

Too true. I think I was somewhat misremembering Emily Yoffe’s description of the statistics on Slate, and she does seem to have a weird fixation on minimizing rape incidence. Despite her agenda, I think it is a fairly (?) accurate description of where the RAINN statistics come from.

I think there is a difference between a subordinate having the responsibility to draw boundaries and someone on a equal setting, which is why campus and workplace harassment and dating policies existing. This looks at least like a clear case of sexual harassment of someone he was essentially supervising. Here are

I think the 1 in 4 figure though is sexual assault defined very broadly (like getting your butt pinched in a bar). Still very wrong and indicative of a huge problem, but some people assume that it is 1 in 4 women getting raped. I don’t have the actual study right now though so I could be mistaken.

Whoops, I knew four were molested, but I thought only Jill and Jessa were on the lawsuit since they had publicly spoken before.

Not until today.

I have similar feelings. Obviously the Duggar clan wants revenge for Josh and their brand being tarnished. On the other hand, publishing details of a minor’s sexual abuse as tabloid fodder is gross and I don’t blame the two daughters here for being angry.

I can verify that all the first graders here talk a lot about Trump, how he hurts women, is going to start a war, etc., etc. We occasionally complain, but I think she is just absorbing it from overhearing NPR and other kids as well.

I legitimately LOLed when reading this.

Yes, I think people are making a mistake by assuming this is some sort of legitimate medical journal.
