This is terrible but it’s also pretty standard for the industry (the industry itself being terrible especially the further down the chain you go). As others have said, unionize. In the least they should look at the guild systems used in the film industry (which are unions by another name). That would at least provide

The only thing the shareholders will care about is how well he handles it. :-/

I mean, this makes sense, these are kids and young adults who grew up with it. In many cases they are incorporating things they love into their performances and celebrations. It really makes sense to me, with the globalization of entertainment I fully expect this to become the norm not the exception.

You see, I don’t think that’s the case. There was a dumb fun element BUT there were themes they tried to explore that makes me think it was trying to be something more than that. I have no problems with stupid fun movies, it’s why I didn’t hate this movie but why I didn’t like it is they pluck the strings of these

To be fair, I also thought the 2016 Ghostbusters was great so we’re on the same page there. ;-) Some people just find the happy in the experience of seeing a film in the cinema easier than others (not that that is good or bad just we all come to the experience with different hopes and expectations).

It’s actually one of the parts that was interesting and had me intrigued with what they could have done with the concept but sadly didn’t pull together. I can’t find a way to do spoiler blocks on here which is annoying and I don’t want to ruin it for anyone but I will say it was handled maturely in a way that was

They are both far better movies than this movie (and yes I’ve seen it). Maybe if I knew who the twitch/youtuber cameos were it’d have meant something more but yeah, it’s dumb fun but high on dumb. Dumb fun is fine my only complaint is they didn’t use Ryan to his maximum. They didn’t lean far enough in any direction

I don’t really think that’s a fair interpretation, they are going in with a different perspective. One that’s not invalid, it’s simply not the one you share. People need to use reviews as what they are intended to be, a subjective review based on a viewer’s lens. Calibrate it based on your own experience and take away

Film appreciation is subjective, I saw it and nothing is actively wrong in this review but it’s a subjective viewing interpretation from a particular perspective of the reviewer. There are no “Wrong” reviews, there are subjectively different reviews. You align your compass of interpretation based on your personal

Saw it last night, went to go see a screening of The Green Knight which was sold out (we forgot about how important it is to buy ahead) and ended up getting free tickets to Free Guy. I have to say this review was far more generous than I’d have been. It wasn’t HORRIBLE and it had some delightful ideas but none of it

To be fair, of anything, this is the most likely to really impact the company. If there’s a shareholder revolt at the same time as an employee revolt that impacts their financial stability on two fronts.

The thing with Devolver is they tend to be making fun of that kind of behaviour (like booth babe culture etc.) which doesn’t always land and takes a degree of nuance that the platform of an exhibit hall doesn’t really work in.

The apology was such a non-apology it’s insulting. People make mistakes, people can learn from mistakes but if any of them had learnt from that mistake they wouldn’t have been spending the majority of the “apology” equivocating and contextualising.

They would have said “What I said was inappropriate, I see that now and

In some places yes, in most of America no. Thank successive governments for weakening employee protections. Thank “At-will employment” states for deciding to fuck over every person who works in their states.

So... do we have a new corporation to call the most evil company in America now?

Fair enough unfortunately that level of nuance is lost on the kind of people who are obsessive fans. They never see themselves as such. :-/

Yeah, they misjudged their financial ramp and missed the landing running out of money first (and it doesn’t help that the studio heads were absolutely bonkers bananas wackadoodle).

Agreed, I do not have anything against him I just find his creative output grew away from me. Agewise and lifestyle wise we were very much in the same place when he started his career (I was a film student he was making indie films). We just grew in different directions so his material didn’t click.

Hey now, to be fair, Cannon films was already dead before they finished filming the movie. The finally was shot as it was because they ran out of money on the production during the last days of shooting and had to wing it with no money.

His ass, he’s pulling these quotes from his ass.
