The discourse has evolved a LOT since I was a kid, the concepts of privilege and institutional racism existed but weren’t really clear 20 or 25 years ago. Even intersectionality was only starting to become a thing. The internet helped speed the discourse and has made it much clearer and I think a lot of us Gen Xers

While I don’t disagree (as a Gen Xer I know a lot of my peers fall to the siren song of “moderate” politics) I don’t think you ever have to worry about Gen X becoming “dominant” the reality is we’re such a small cohort and Millennials are so fast on our heels we’ll never achieve the kind of cultural sway that Boomers

Every time I think “maybe I’ll try one of their games out” something like this comes up. I’m glad I can just strike their games from my even bothering to try pile at this point.

Possibly the most Hobbity thing in the shire.

I can respect that, it’s a considered response. He’s working with groups to minimise the impact on the communities the bill is targeting and support them whilst still protest the bill (via donating to charity). It really is a no win scenario. You leave the state, you leave behind many people who are the very people

If they actually loved wild animals they’d not feed it because that’s how you get it killed. Let the wild animal be wild, feed it you break it of its fear of humans and then it does something unwise (totally understandable because now it’s conditioned to not fear us) and someone gets hurt leading to the animal getting

The laws (and the contradictions and hypocrisy of those laws) around sex work and “indecencysay a lot about countries. Japan is far from the only confusing and hypocritical countries out there but it’s seldom writ so large as when you look at certain aspects of acceptable behaviour and what’s considered unacceptable.

I think the connection is Disney+ owns the airing rights for the play Hamilton so this creates a connection. It’s just an interesting aside about the progress of the careers of these people vaguely aligned under their corporate banner moving between properties. TLDR; don’t over think it.

The hate for EA is an interesting study, I’m not going to pretend they are without bad business practices but their practices were not demonstrably different than any other major publisher. A lot of the complaints people make (buying up studios, running franchises into the ground, etc.) Activision also does.

Ah Activision, just keepin’ on Activistioning. Hard to remember that this was a company started by former Atari employees trying to get out from the corporate shenanigans of the company back in the day.

The response of WotC and Felix is a step in the right direction. Compensation and crediting the artists is the right thing to do.

Thank you! I was going to comment about how they could have missed this element in the article (that said, the Australian government is not far off from Trump’s America so this is probably not a big deal to them).

Thanks for lending some clarity, being a dick happens. There’s lots of people who are kind of dicks (and hopefully it’s something people grow out of). That’s different than sexual harassment on the set though. Doesn’t excuse it but it’s just a different kettle of fish.

How long until Gabe rides in and overrides this one? (Seriously, glad this game was cut from the platform but Valve are inconsistent at best and pander to some icky people.)

I don’t think that’s really an excuse for Sony any more. They’ve had two generations and over a decade to figure this out. They should have a more robust grasp of these kinds of design choices. I’m not saying they’re bad or doing anything wrong but my PS5 just came yesterday and I can say this article was very funny

Honest to god, literally just had this conversation with friends. I can understand Sony’s struggles and it’s not game breaking for me but man it’s frustrating. (My PS5 came yesterday and getting it set up was really confusing, let alone the migration of Destiny 2.)

Nah that’d be where Nick goes after he finishes his space station where he goes to kill the Watcher.

I have to wonder, if the people complaining about this movie would be saying the same thing if Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus came out today? The core is the same, an irredeemable person wreaks terror and we’re not supposed to sympathise for them but their victim. This is a monster movie, just happens the

1960s, she’s a Mod fashion terrorist (and honestly, that’s entirely on brand for the Mods). Also I don’t think you’re really supposed to I feel the point of this is be careful what you wish for you may become that which you hate.

Well time will tell, I could see Sinister playing with them and trying to keep them off books and out until he can play his full hand.
