Yeah (and Prophet is the BEST, BTW). But Saga is great as a stylized space fantasy.

Agree. Damian was the best thing to happen to the Bat-Books in a loooong time. Though I do have to say i am enjoying Snyder.
Gillen and McKelvie…:)
Yup. A book that probably doesn't get the attention it deserves, despite the high-profile (not just for comics) writer. It's really good.
Yup. It was good at first - seeing the POV of Clint, Kate, and Lucky. By the time we were seeing the same events from Barney's POV, it was getting stale. I'm ready for Hawekeye get back to awesome stuff like the trick arrow or valentine's day/romance comic issues.
Good list by Sava - though it feels a bit incomplete. Fortunately that is because there are SO MANY awesome comics right now. Seriously I dunno if there has been a better time for mainstream/ish comics. Also there are a few titles mentioned that I'm simply not feeling the love for personally, but hey…
Y'all are crazy. Young Avengers is great. The Prodigy issue alone should have landed it on this list (and that was the one without the benefit of McKelvie's gorgeous pencils and formal experimentation).
Um. It takes place in 2001.
Agreed. I have to say, I have a ton of admiration for what Image has done, and is still doing, over the last several years.
It's not quite finished. Per Johnston, The next issue (#51) will end the final arc of the city-set storyline. #52 will be illustrated by Sam Keith and serve as an interlude issue (the last one). Then the series will close with one last arc, which will be drawn by Mitten (who has been completeing these issues…
I have that on my "to read" pile as well. Heard good things.
Also can't believe how much I loved Pretty Deadly. Such a weird first issue, but yeah I loved it.
IMO, the last arc ("Here Comes Tomorrow") is pure genius. It's soooo disorienting at first, because of the sudden flash forward of 150 years and all the weird characters (with seemingly lengthy backstories only hinted at), but it coheres brilliantly, if subtly, in the final issue. Hidden in the text are awesome…
I don't know if I can explain the intricacies and absurdities of Big Two branding beyond the fact that they looooooove the word "New." But, Marvel seems to be moving toward shorter, 12-16 issue creative runs before rebooting the series with a new #1.
I thought the Olivietti issues of Fraction's Punisher: WJ were much stronger than the Chaykin ones. Olivietti's exaggerated figures brought the perfect level of ridiculoussness to the Punisher's adventures in superheroland. I actually thought that was a really good book.
I have the first two Rat Queens issues but haven't read them yet. Image really has been on fire the last couple of years. Prophet, Saga, Sex Criminals, Zero are among my very favotite titles, and Pretty Deadly and Umbral look like they could be really good as well.
I have been enjoying THE WAKE but I feel like it's really ready to kick off now. My main comment after last issue was that I wanted to see more of the future world that has been teased since #1 and it look like the main focus of the series is now shifting that way. Snyder also made a comment in the backmatter that…
Morrison's New X-Men was amazing. est last arc/issue ever on a flagship superhero title. And yeah, it did move the franchise past Xavier/Magneto in a satisfying way. I will say though that I think post-Schism the X-writers seem to finally be following up on this with Wolverine and Cyclops as the "new" Xavier/Mags,…
