I do keep things like a water filter and iodine treatment as well as steel water bottles in addition to typically having 5 gallons of water in my rig. I also have a tarp and a small sheet of plastic so I could rig up other ways to get water in a pinch.

I usually have my Kindle and my solar charger too so technically I could read until I died from a lack of water or food. :)

This is why I keep three books in my truck in addition to my survival stuff. I could quite happily chill for a week until found.
