Last time I played hide and seek was with my Dad when I was 5. I was really good at it too. I hid in the kitchen cabinet. Must’ve taken him 3 hours to find me. My Dad and I never had much of a relationship, but at least I have this wonderful memory of that one time I must’ve made him proud for how well I did.

Children evaporate and earn a C average of you aren’t watching them every.single.moment.

“Open concept” is a middle class poverty fantasy? Huh. Here I just thought they were a way to have natural light in urban and townhouses and make it easy to watch your toddler while you’re cooking dinner without putting a playpen on the kitchen floor.

A trailer. If you want a smaller house just buy a damn trailer. You can buy a cheap model and trick it out. A normal trailer has 2 bedrooms and one bath. A double wide has 3 beds and maybe 2 baths. I don’t understand why someone would want to spend like 20K for half the space of a normal trailer and then scrounge half

I have to disagree. I wouldn’t call it a poverty fantasy, in most cases I’ve seen. It’s more of just a offshoot hippie trend. They want to live in the outdoors, save the environment and live off less. A lot of them seem to give up high paying jobs for lower ones.

Ever notice how often minimalists are the richest people you know? I think the only people who ever fantasize about “having less” are people who simply have too much. The biggest & most glorious houses/apartments are always echoingly empty spaces with, like, 2 or 3 expensive objects and nothing on the walls or

My friend’s dad was a builder. Went bankrupt in 2009 or so. Had to move out of custom mansion into one of the family homes he built. I was visiting and his wife said, “This open concept format doesn’t really work with all of us living here (two parents and two adult kids.)

I said, “too bad you can’t let the builder

I always thought this was a poverty fantasy for people who are too smug to rent an apartment or live in a trailer. They all say renting is a waste of money yet buying a tiny house that has no resale value is a great investment!

I think that’s what bugs me most of all about this. Especially the fucking “upscale” tiny houses. Downsizing, doing more with less, being minimalist- I understand and even respect people who want to have that life. When there’s someone on these shows who does a lot of traveling or moving, I get the desire to keep it

Tiny houses are upper middle class poverty fantasies. Same with “open concept” floor plans. You want to live in a small house and “do with less” ? Do it while making poverty wages

I always thought tiny homes were for the rich white folk that wanted to pretend to be or live as poor folk for a few years.

I don’t see how you can come away with “no matter who is in charge” they all suck. Democrats CREATED this Ethics office, Republucans just had a secret vote on a holiday night to destroy it. But ok sure, keep on keeping on with your both sides suck theory.

Unpopular opinion — porn has something to do with it. At least the type of gross straight-cis-het porn so many teenage boys watch. When you couple violent (or borderline violent) and consent-free porn with zero sex education and you get young men who are susceptible to this kind of thinking about sex.

I dunno i get it tho

Retirement living for the generation that will never be able to retire!

Now now...Americans believe in mental health when there’s a mass shooting done by a previously law-abiding white Christian man.

This is as important a story as Deadspin has ever done. My contempt for Hardy, Jones and Goodell is matched only by my admiration for Diana’s epic reporting.
