Limbo but not Inside? My friend, that’s not an opinion. That’s just flat-out incorrect.

That’s only $2 more than the exact same product cost at standard retail over one year ago!

If I were writing this article, I would have made a point to include a picture of the original vs the ‘stolen’ art. I would have considered an easy visual comparison to be the most effective and critical part of this news piece. Why even write the article without it?

Comparing Into the Breach with BattleTech is wild. Into the Breach, one of the tightest puzzle games ever designed vs. BattleTech, one of the sloppiest messes to ever look ugly and play poorly at the same time.

For me, poor gameplay and level design are pretty hard disqualifiers for the title of “Best of the Year.” But I suppose if you put more weight on the writing side of things, Unsighted might be a more tolerable experience.

Unsighted is what you’d get if Hyper Light Drifter had bad dialogue instead of good gameplay.

I believe the term is ‘demake’

“Good things come to those who wait”

A more concise review: Eastward is a solid portfolio of pixel art with some bits of a very mediocre game hanging off of it. I’ve truly never experienced such a shallow game/story combo, especially in the context of decent visuals.

Great game, loads of originality. Still, calling it the most innovative game of 2021 is pretty bold considering that the year isn’t done and Inscryption exists.

It’s getting pretty generous reads from a lot of corners. There’s a lot of unironic praise for Malignant as if it were a genuine straight-down-the-middle good film (this article, for example). Then there’s a lot of people who take the obviously janky dialogue, plotting, acting, and direction as intentional homages to

Ghosts makes me ashamed to be an American. Perhaps there’s some cosmic justice to it. We did so well remaking The Office that we were destined to take another decent British show and heighten only its worst parts while diminishing all its strengths

Designating poor level design as ‘part of the experience’ is how we perpetuate poor level design.
