Cayman, Boxster, various other cars at this price point... I feel like sporty luxury is more based on handling prowess than power. Also, if that were true then pony cars would rule that portion of the market.

Is it bad that I really like cars like this? I mean, it’s comfortable and beautiful on an excellent platform. No, it won’t set lap times, but to me a good, proven platform tuned to be fun is more fun than a sporty car tuned down for comfort.

Holy crap, I knew I didn’t like the new R8, but couldn’t pin down why. Thank you for showing me.

Honestly, only 90s kids will get this. But seriously, I always thought these were nice cars. Handsome in an age of malaise.

Trolling?

I love this car so much. I would kill a few people for one.

I’m down, but if they really want my (hypothetical) money, they would put those damn suicide doors back on. I don’t care if it is technically worse, I want ‘em.

Man, as a Mustang, Prius, and diesel fan (and bugeye owner), I really got my ass handed to me today. The thing is, it hurts but I know I deserve it.

According to C&D(‘s advertising budget), this is the best hybrid in America. Ignore the fact that the Prius is cheaper and gets better fuel economy (which is, after all, the point of it) and is more reliable and is more plentiful to purchase and repair and blah blah blah.

I feel like Audi does, actually. But still.

I used to ride in the back on my grandpa’s and dad’s C4s, I thought it was the coolest thing ever (although it was always very hot under the glass).

Correct response. Slightly better road manners (which at that level you’ll never notice) for infinitely more repair cost and inconvenience.

Well, that looks sexy as hell, but I am prepared to be dissapointed. But it really just has to look a little better than the current one to get my money.

Holy Gods, drunk Jalopnik was a great choice. This is the most amazing video I have ever seen. Does anyone else suddenly miss Izuzu?

Holy crap, the wife was not kidding. Why did they sound so busted? I love it. (Drunk shitposting continues)

Drunk shitposting. Anyway, since (most) people that buy 911s base it on badge alone, why not make them more efficient and powerful by modernizing them? Most customers won’t care, and enthusiasts that do end up with more power and better fuel economy. Porsche has always been about ruthlessness, so why not update? If

Sells a luxury car. Which is not to say they are bad to drive, but you wouldn't call Porsche more of a sports-car brand than BMW? Just ask Nissan if ‘innovation that excites’ helps sell econo-boxes.

I agree with you on the 3 Series, but BMW is a whole luxury brand, and while some are sporty, it’s not enthusiast-focused like Porsche portends to be.

I’m completely of the opposite opinion. People who don’t care about cars but come into money buy the most recommended of their like-minded peers: the 911. Whereas people who care about the driving experience more than the badge are more likely to buy the Cayman. The Boxster is a bit of a wild card here, but still.
