Whether Theron was a daughter, android or even a close employee to Weyland is ultimately irrelevant by the fact that that there is no through-line to her character.

No hate if you liked the movie, that's good some people enjoyed it.  Certainly a lot of reviews enjoy the film.  I just felt it was talking down to me and could get by with a lot of atmospheric attempts without any real tension or logic.

TashaRobinson yet not enough time for the engineer head to decompose at all…

Of course the natural question is why doesn't the hologram show what was chasing the engineers?  To be so technically advanced they sure didn't seem to have much ahead of the fancy spaceship the scientists brought.

All of those things would be fine if they had just tried to treat us intelligently and throw us a bone.  To just assume so much negates the point of watching the film.  It's like watching Alien again but just listening to an mp3 of Sigourney Weaver tell the story verbally.

Czar, that is completely unrealistic.  There is no living creature we have ever seen that can be dead for more than a few minutes then react to electricity.  That the scientists would even expect that to happen reveals some knowledge that we are never given.  In this case it wasn't even considered if it could be

Honestly, I felt like that for all the characters but she was glaringly obvious as a unneeded role.

Except nothing in our collective experience as an audience would inform us that these super smart scientists and engineers would do so many things like that.  We know that scientists are smart, we know engineers and pilots are extremely careful.  Even Theron's characters says in the film how her cabin is

I am so anticipating the Plinkett review of this movie.  This is such a Phantom Menace / Prequel series all over again.

DoctorSmashy, you are so right.  The funniest thing is that this crew is supposed to be like the smartest group of people we have ever seen in the Alien franchise.  YET we see that they are dumber than the Nostromo, Sulaco, Narcisses, etc. crews put together.

The liquid is what Damon Lindblohhard drinks every night that somehow informs him that all the shows he writes need to be explained by him outside of the work itself.
