Duckworth was born in Thailand, so she’s not eligible. I think Gillibrand and Harris are both huge possibilities, not only because of their qualifications, but sadly, because they’re both so good looking and well spoken. They’ll appeal to the cretins who don’t care about actual politics.

I was just having this conversation. I think my phrasing was “who’s the DNC’s hot Justin Trudeau equivalent?”

I so agree on this. She has less weird baggage and doesn’t really risk setting off weird, antique “San Francisco Gays are Killing Freedom” tingles in the back of conservative brains.

Harris would be a good option. She’s got the charisma and personality to handle what would certainly be a very nasty campaign.

I think she was born in Thailand, so she’s out. And I think the lesson is that Republicans will get in line and vote for the devil, but Democrats need a sexy guy with charisma because we’re idiots who don’t want to vote for boring yet competent even if the option is the devil. We need to be wooed like airhead

I meant to add that if we’re looking toward CA, I am far more excited about Kamala Harris someday running than I am of Gavin Newsom.

I don’t know how much that matters any more and one of Hillary’s big problems was that shes been the target of the Right’s propaganda machine for a long time. A relative unknown might have better luck.

I can’t see anybody being a better prospect right now than Harris, on paper. Yeah, she’s a newbie...kind of like somebody else was, once. She’s from a reliably blue state, so we can be confident in her replacement. She’s a woman and a minority, so she won’t be the latest entry in the sequence of moldy white hippies

Excellent point. Not these two, but also not anybody.

I agree. I also think there is no one that could’ve beaten Trump. Everyone underestimated the power of racism and small mindedness.

Can we start a Grooming Pool here at Jezebel, with Tammy Duckworth, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Julian Castro, and whoever else we can round up in it?

It’s kabinet and next 4 years will be mix of apprentice with hunger games.

Donald Trump cares about wack people.

This was a great article. And I can’t help but add:

Good for you, that’s a good plan and a responsible thing to do. I recently bought a tiny parcel of land up in Vermont [I live in Boston] next to a stream in this wooded area. Cheap, but that stream runs off the mountains and would provide us clean water. I’m going to build a little cabin up there and just put a

When did the Nazi narrative flip so badly? Weren’t they the definitive evil that Indiana Jones or Captain America could punch in the face and everyone would cheer?

I often mention to my kids that we need to have an emergency plan “just in case” (since I live in Earthquake, California). It’s always been a nebulous thing about preparedness for a few days in case services are disrupted for a few days. This past weekend, I said we’re doing this immediately after the holidays and

Omg I was just talking about this on here the other day. How I saw so many similarities between the reformation and the printing press and what’s going on now. It raises the same kind of questions about if information is inherently good to know and how it can change the entire social order. Not much to add, I just

I can’t either. It’s unfolding day by day like a huge, slow motion train wreck.

Oh, so NOW Yertle the Turtle is willing to entertain the probability of Russian interference?
