The rage and shame I feel over what’s happening to our marginalized brothers and sisters is overwhelming.

Because sexism is still so rampant and common and accepted that it’s still basically invisible to a lot of people; a lot of people simply don’t see it even when it’s staring them right in the face. I say this as a black person.
I think right now people are angry and in mourning and everyone deals with that differently. This is hard. We didn’t see this coming and it’s so much more acute when you thought your side was going to win.
Exactly. Even the headline and premise of this Jezebel article is troubling to me. It seems right now Dems are content to just point fingers while sticking their heads in the sand.
I’m also finding it frustrating. We can’t do anything about the basket dwellers’ votes, and we are all going to have to work overtime and be vigilant to actively combat the deplorables’ emboldened acts of bigotry, but we also need to identify what else happened and work on the persuadable voters.
I totally agree with the other comment that it was all of it. All this finger pointing is frustrating because it was all of it.
I hear that. I’m also a lifelong vegetarian so between that and voting for Democrats (and perhaps saying things like “This holiday is a glorification of American barbarity!” in youth, *cough*) I’m basically the family Thanksgiving communist.
I would say all of those things, plus sexism. Do not underestimate just how much people don’t like a woman in charge, including many women.
BTW, I don’t think many people realized just how hard it was going to be to elect a woman president. Obama won by getting very lucky the first time. Bush literally had to crash the economy and get us into an unbelievably unpopular slog of wars in Asia so that Obama would even have a chance.
Where Mormons and Evangelicals are concerned, at least, that is extremely true. The church deeply influences their political views.
i’m not simplifying it to JUST those people. what i am saying, however, is that if rural poor white Americans had a culture shift, this election would’ve been a landslide victory for Clinton. I never said this was the only problem or the only people who voted for Donald Trump. but they voted HUGELY for him. in large…
that’s a good point. i’m sure the rust belt church-goers really do go based off their church and community organizers.
Amen
Thank you. :) We both have tempers and care A LOT about our opinions, so I don’t really talk politics much with him at all, for the sake of family ties. He’s a smart guy and doesn’t really go with the crowd--yet a devotee of Fox News. Oy. People, they are a mess of contridictions.
I am not even American and I’ve burst into tears 4 times since yesterday. I’m so sorry you guys, everything about this is painful to look at, as illustrated by the above photos.
I liked Jupiter Ascending due to being original, currently on a background.
To be fair the US hasn’t had moral authority in a hell of a long time.
I’m getting “Jupiter Ascending” vibes from this. And I legit love that. Also, props to Rihanna for looking fierce as always.
If I may... I would like to share a response I placed on FB today to a friend of mine who said we should love and embrace Trump Supporters: “If you had seen the terror on the faces of my Muslim colleagues and the horror on the faces of my Muslim students, and the collective and utter disbelief of all of my colleagues…
