I was out and about in Chelsea Saturday night—about 6 blocks away from the bombing—and when we got the news that something had blown up, we paused for a minute and said “shit, what are we supposed to do now?” We carried on with our drinks and then got dinner.

The sad thing is (coming from someone who lives in the middle of the country where no terrorist would ever come), we elect these tough talkers and they focus on this misguided terrorism bullshit that accomplishes nothing. When we should be voting for people that will help us with the actual issues in the Great

I’ve noticed that a lot of the people parroting “Blue Lives Matter” on my Facebook feed also buy into the notion that more civilians carrying more guns means a safer populace.

That’s the thing that makes me lose it—these tough talking mother fuckers in Kentucky, Ohio, wherever ratcheting up the terrorism war knowing they won’t have to deal with the repercussions. Meanwhile, I get to sit in a packed underground tube train for two hours a day and transfer through Grand Central every goddamn

We should ban all Neoplasms from entering the country!

I was recently listening to a recording of Edward R. Murrow recalling his time in England during WWII (mixed with some of his original broadcasts from then, too). One of the segments was him recalling a story about air raid sirens started going off and how hundreds of people in the crowded streets were simply walking,

I say this all the time. People have no problem eating shit food, drinking alcohol every day, not exercising, and smoking cigarettes, basically giving themselves some type of heart disease. And then they’ll turn around and watch a video on how to protect yourself in a mass shooting situation and start mumbling about

Or if you are going to freak out, freak out about things that are actually high risk. For example look at these causes of death from 2001 (a very bad year for terrorism as some may remember):

Fear is the entire object of terrorism (it’s conveniently located right in the very word). Every time we overreact or change our ideals in the light of a terrorist act, we are complying with the wishes of the terrorist.

That’s not what cheating is about. Cheaters don’t go looking for someone hotter.

I think the reason a lot of fashion people fail to understand race is that they treat it just an aesthetic factor devoid of any cultural, social and political aspects. They treat race just like a color of a pair of shoes. You know, like this dress looks good on that shoes.

Triggers are so very particular to the context that the trauma occurred in. Like a smell can be wonderful (fresh lilacs) but if you were assaulted near a lilac tree it could become a disgusting and triggering smell.

When I was 19 a scary drunk dude came and rang the doorbell at my parent’s house while I was alone. Like he circled the house and rang the doorbell almost constantly for an hour in the middle of the night. This was in a very small town. The local police were gone overnight - the police dispatch operator couldn’t send

“I also have an aversion to changing the conversation from ‘this argument is bad’ to ‘this argument is tainted because of it’s source’”.

Sometimes you want to shut the conversation down though. I’m totally fine with shutting down a conversation if someone is mansplaining to me. If I want to engage, I will, but I’m not obligated to educate anyone about sexism.

It’s actually really common. A friend f mine lives in a small town and works in admin/secretary work. She was abused by her husband, who was a rather powerful guy, and left him and moved back home (early 30s). Everyone lives in this small town. She had obvious bruises. Everyone knew what was going on.

My guess is that the founders of the show are friends with the guy in the scenario, so her band is not allowed to preform there.

I guess we’ll have to start banning all words with the word “man” in them because they’re ALL sexist!

Meanwhile, I told my therapist what mansplaining was this week and he (an older white dude) thought it was perfect and couldn’t believe he hadn’t heard what it was yet!

Yup, it’s terrible. I was not so much a teacher as a daycare worker, which didn’t bother me much. I like young kids a lot, they’re either all sweet or all evil, which makes them easy to deal with. The bad part was the parents, who seemed annoyed when I told them their toddlers weren’t making much progress. They LIVED
