I don’t think the evidence would support that. Many adult abusers emerged from abusive backgrounds. That has been well documented.

Why would you expect domestic abuse victims who aren’t seeking legal repercussions to give a video of themselves being beaten to the police?

People are asking what this means for #MeToo. It means it’s doing its job.

I’m surprised more people aren’t pointing out how distressingly similar the details of this assault are to her allegation against Weinstein: the grooming and isolating of the victim, providing alcohol before attacking etc. It’s infuriating to think…

The most tragic, compromised, and devastated but also most brave and determined survivor I ever met was a man who was sexually abused by his own mother. 

Yeah, bad people can be rape victims, too.  Hell, rapists can be rape victims.

This isn’t some referendum on anti-sexual abuse coalitions, but a reaffirmation of them. Keep in mind that unmasking people who’ve abused is a painful process for loved ones of victims and perpetrators alike.

They should just write about it. They’re responsible for reporting what happened, not how people choose to use it. Victims can be abusers and abusers can be victims. That is the no-spin, messy reality.
