Another overly-large SUV cosplaying as a fastback saloon. I’m so bored.

I have a disease that causes me to like weird pseudo-SUV hatchovers, and I hate that I like this one. If the disease isn’t terminal, it probably should be.
Barbarella was a French comic series and DS is play on word; in French it is pronounced like the word déesse, meaning “goddess”
Hey! Respect the OG! The Acura ZDX beat the X4 by 5 years AND proved that no one would buy them!
Explain this, then
I think I’m right there with you. There’s a brutalist, cyberpunk charm to this design that I find very captivating. I actually see quite a few Jaguar signatures in the side profile, but I wish there were more details to make this concept really stand out.
I have no idea what sort of archetype you’re invoking here. Do you think the models in the ad came up with the whole rebrand?
Here are two photos from a camera that were taken in real life of the actual two concept cars that Jaguar built
This puts me at a weird crossroads.
Pink is actually very in as a car color right now. Porsche’s Frozen Berry has been a big hit (at one point I heard over 30% of all new Porsches in China were Frozen Berry), so has the return of Ruby Star. A lot of other brands are doing pinks and lavenders and rose golds
I think the fact that it looks like my old doodles is why I like it so much
I love that big shooting brake body styles like this are coming back
It is way curvier than a Cybertruck!
That’s a great way to put it. My favorite car ever is the Citroën DS, which is kind of the epitome of “oh my god it looks like a UFO, that’s real?!” That same feeling is why I like the Cadillac Celestiq so much, and the stuff the Hyundai brands are doing
No curves? Huh?
Maybe in spirit, but the F-Type never really gave me E-Type vibes in terms of design. Some of Jaguar’s 2000s sports car concepts were a lot more successful in that regard
As a devout minivan fan, who’s never owned one, two or 10 Jaguars, my opinion really matters. But, if it did, I dig it. Fuck up cars are a good idea, till they’re not. They’re doing SO much “wrong,” that it’s exciting, and it’s not my R&D money they’re spending, so ROCK ON, Jag!
There’s also the fact that in 1961, the original E-Type looked like a spaceship. That, more then anything, connects this to the E-Type. The fact that it’s a classic now that they’ve been clinging to almost does it a disservice.
My whole thing is that it looks like a modern interpretation of an E-Type, not that it looks like an E-Type. And some of our staff disagrees with me about how it looks in general! Maybe they’ll write stories about their opinions. But until then you have to just read mine
That honestly just makes me want it more. It’s like the Cybertruck for liberals 😂
