it’s natural to want to defend your country but publicly sanctioned punishment rapes might not be the best hill to die on...

The worst part is, them existing in the lowest caste means theres almost a 100% chance they’ve already been raped and exploited dozens of times.

100% on your side with this. I honestly don’t think default drivers understand how obnoxious they sound when they make snarky assumptions about others’ mobility. And because they don’t really understand the practical realities of the alternatives, they just come across sounding like petulant jerks instead of realizing

That was kind of my thought as well. Getting it to the burbs would help, you’d have to go pretty far to escape Chicagoland’s light pollution. We’ll just give it a go in the city and hope for the best. :)

Man, post one thing on here and people start attacking huh? Well, I’m a fellow Chicagoan with lame friends as well, so I feel your pain.... but I think you’d have to go past the suburbs to the boonies to see the shower, the burbs are still pretty bright... and once you get that far you gotta watch for meth heads and

I mentioned elsewhere that I have good friends, none of whom are interested in staying out late on a work night to drive to the suburbs to see a meteor shower, unfortunately. I obviously need more nerd friends. I have, however, convinced a few to join me on the shores of Lake Michigan to see what we can. :)

“Just outside Chicago” can take a long time to get to, unless you’re talking the middle of the night! And driving hours in the middle of the night to get to Rockford, hoping to see some meteors...Well, it’s a little more than I can convince the girlfriend to do, I’d imagine.

Do they? Or do they paint a picture of someone who wouldn’t ask a friend who wasn’t interested in watching a meteor shower to drive hours into the suburbs and not to get bed until midnight on a weeknight?

Ha! A good handful of friends, none of whom would be interested in heading to the suburbs with me on a work night to watch a meteor shower, unfortunately. I obviously need more nerd friends. :)

I think you mean resigned, not reserved, but yes, I believe I’m resigned to the fact that there’s not a good solution for me, otherwise I would have practiced it. I don’t know if you honestly expect me to believe that posting a “solution” like “there’s a train system in Chicago” was anything other than condescending

No, I wanted to commiserate with another poster about being in a city with light pollution. It had nothing to do with asking for sympathy.

No, I didn’t ask anyone to feel sorry for me. I mentioned, in agreement with another poster, that I wished I was in my childhood home of rural Nebraska to watch it, rather than Chicago. You know, agreeing with people in conversation, as we do. Then it was suggested that I was a city snob who didn’t realize “the rest

A little backstory here:

Honestly, when you are at a redlight, with cars behind you, the worst that can happen is get honked at to go. I’m fine with people yelling at texters/phone users while moving, but if you are stopped, don’t be a dick.

The Capitol Hill police have their own rules and always have. Their hatred for bike messengers, even when bike messengers were absolutely vital to keeping the Hill running (unlike now), is legendary.

The elongated screws extending past the back plate of the accelerator pedal is especially disturbing to me. If the pedal is jammed to the floor the possibility exists of these screws embedding either in the floor mat or the in-vehicle carpet. This could result in loss of vehicle control, not good. I seriously urge
