@kleer001: Odd part is I love two of the authors (Kafka and Dick) referenced on the cover quote (and do not know of the third: Chandler), so I thought for sure I might find this at least remotely interesting. It's just really repetitive, monotonous, and the characters, setting, and plot is all really flat. Bleah. I'll

I need inspiration to help me finish this novel. I'm 1/2 way through and have been forcing myself to continue reading for the past week. He just got to Ul Qoma—please tell me the plot starts picking up in the next two chapters otherwise I think I'm going to have to give up. I'm suffering from a big helping of "I don't

@kleer001: Sad. I loved Kafka, but I hate this book. Must be the detective/mystery aspect of it.

@girlsaregeeks: This was my first Mièville and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no.

@elmonty: This was my first Mièville and I'm sorely disappointed. I love character development, settings, and emotions—all of which this novel seems to be lacking. I also can't stand mystery novels. I know I picked the wrong Mièville to start and I will give him another go, but I seriously am in pain every time I have

@Log1c: duuuude!! Spoilers! Now you've ruined the entire movie for me. ;)

@ProfessorSara: I would like to own responsibility for this idea if it ever comes to fruition. ^_^

@xdeathknightx: McHale's Navy and Congo—two movies that can only be considered "good" because Bruce appeared in them.

@Srynerson: I heard they briefly contemplated adding a "best screaming brain" category, but the motion was defeated and deemed superfluous.

@JosephFinn: But he's beautiful, adorable, and funny. Plus, we've all forgiven Bruce Campbell for countless bad movies, so I don't see why Ryan Reynolds wouldn't also receive such treatment.

Crap. I'm about 125+ pages in an completely uninterested in this story. Is it about to get interesting or does the rest of the novel continue on this snail's pace? (Our hero is about to go into Ul Qoma to continue his investigation there.)

@Spifferiferfied: We'll see. I'm still a skeptic but have high hopes. The Watchmen was done really well and introduced a slew of new characters. Of course, it was also forever long. So, it is possible, but seems to have more failures than successes.

No, every time you add another character with another superpower the movie and plot suffer. It's just too much to explain to an audience in a 2 hour time slot.

T-Dog as in Tyrese? Iron has some pretty awesomely big shoes to fill if he's going to be Tyrese.

@mikerampton: I felt the same way, but from what I've been reading (reviews) this was the wrong book to start with.

Thank you for not posting any of the crazy-church signs (at least none that I saw). They don't deserve publicity—be it negative or positive.

Awesome. I had some doubts, but Andrew has won me over. Mainly because he said he read the novel(s) but also because he said he'd chop off his hand. Even though I know he won't, he said he would and that is enough to make me happy.

@tetracycloide: My dad banned Bambi in my house. I had to secretively rent it and watch it when I was 18. He still doesn't know to this day. Shhhhh...
