Why should it be any different today? I don’t see anything making pedestrian ‘60s cars any more special than pedestrian ‘90s cars. 

I can’t say it’s the face I would have designed for the car. But I find it marginally less ugly than the Civic’s busy snout. Civic also looks and feels half a size bigger than the Corolla. It’s a bit bigger than I want a compact car to be. 

I like the 3 too. It’s the best-looking of the modern compacts IMO, inside and out. But I already own a Mazda, and unfortunately, my local dealer really sucks. It’s a shame that something like that is the main thing keeping me from considering the car.

I’m an ex-Honda fan as well. This is the generation of Civics that taught me to love Corollas. I don’t care for the styling or the turbocharged engines in these things.

You’re right. The New Beetles weren’t Beetles, really. In spirit, they’re more like Karmann Ghias.

Mine was black, but otherwise just like that, down to the tan interior. Totally stock. Of course, that was back in 1996. 

I’m gonna need to substitute a Miata for that Porsche. I swore off German cars two decades ago, and I’m not going back on that.
