Actually, I don’t think it’s the younger generation missing out so much. Most younger enthusiasts seem to drive older cars. Probably has something to do with shit pay and an economy brilliantly engineered to fuck over the non-stinking-rich and the cost of new performance cars.

So, it’s an Audi that needs work, and its Audi-mechanic owner does not want to perform that work himself before unloading this thing on the next sucker owner?

Hell, I’d say even the full-zoot performance sedans are only slightly less stupid and pointless than performance trucks. 

Different people want different things from a performance car. I want something that is reliable and has double wishbone suspension, and is not German. The MkIV Supra used to be a great choice for someone who wanted those things. This one is unsuitable for obvious reasons. 

I’d pay to have that piece of shit hauled off my property. 

I don’t care. If I’m paying more than $25 grand for a “performance car,” it had better not have suspension engineered for econoboxes. 

Because BMW probably used an inferior MacPherson strut front end, and because variety is a good thing.

The old look fits the new truck better than I would have expected.

I’m not a German-car fan, so you can take this with a whole shaker of salt, but I actually prefer the E36 M3's driving dynamics to the E46 M3's. The S54 engine in the E46 is worlds better, but I felt that the E36 chassis was more responsive and easier to rotate.

I don’t think the BMW mill will have the kind of ridiculous durability of a 2Jz, nor will it be as reliable. Frankly I’d rather have the 2GR FKS engine from an IS350. I also suspect that there are far more common components than just an engine and a couple of other bits. The things are going to be made in Austria, not…

People seem to think that the J.D. Powers surveys are an indication that something is a good product. They’re wrong. The surveys indicate that people like the product. 

So, one Volkswagen beat another Volkswagen around a racetrack in Germany.

At $27k, it isn’t a very compelling proposition. For that much, I’m looking at Camrys and Accords. The Fit sounds like a better deal. 

I was going to say this might be a good thing if the 4-cylinder is a real Toyota engine. But no. It’s another piece-of-shit BMW engine.

It comes from the fact that options add weight. Back in the old days, weight actually mattered to enthusiasts. Fast meant the biggest engine with the least mass to move around.
