That stood out to me as well. I’m not sure you can swing a wooden bat around for a living without developing more of a softball player’s body than a Margot Robbie body.

I can’t think of Tyler Perry as anything but Madea, so in my head, that’s the gangster ordering hits, support hose and all.
So I didn’t actually mention this because I was so verklempt while writing, but I grew up in Wyoming and even in the flat part of Wyoming where I’m from, EVERYONE knows what to do about their feet in order to avoid pain? Even walking across the flat plains?? I love this movie, it’s so absurd and incoherent
Absolute respect, and I’m so sorry about your friend. I would just say... the movie is probably not the one.
This was my problem with Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad.
My brother is a Forest Ranger and works with Smokejumpers. He was actually flown in last year to help in the huge fires of the Pacific Northwest. He has said on many occasion those men and women are some of the most selfless and caring individuals you will ever find who know they are doing an extremely dangerous job…
my problems with any Angelina Jolie movie begin and end with any suggestion that she could plausibly fight fires and/or dispatch a normal sized adult male in a fight (especially if that male is also an assassin). Not saying it’s impossible but she maybe weighs 90 pounds these days.
I don’t know enough about the book to know if any parts (not the mob in the forest) was inspired by real events, but smokejumping is one of the most dangerous professions and becoming more prevalent with the increased drought in the west. A friend of my family’s, a Forest Service smokejumper named Tom Hart died last…
we want salt 2
/imagines saying that about your wife
Late to this one, but the Action Dad flick that turned me off to the genre was Skyscraper, where thousands die around him and he cares not, for he shall save his family and only his family. Oops, sorry, I meant San Andreas. Same plot, different disaster/disaster adjacent situation. Come on, Dwayne. You’re better than…
The Japanese may not give a shit, but people of japanese descent living in our culture definitely feel some harmful stereotypes perpetrated by GS and her ilk. Context is everything.
Yeah I get the sense that Gwen is going through a midlife crisis. I thought she had settled into her new life but it’s clear she still wants to be thought of as cool and edgy. She didn’t need to bring any of this up.
Gwen is terrified to grow up. Literally wearing the same clothes and same look and sound from 25 years ago and simpering next to her “aw shucks, trucks” fiancé. Critically appraising her past choices is impossible as it’s threatening to her frozen sense of self. I don’t know what scared this woman who had everything…
Not a “fraction” of the pain. A “fuh-raction” of the pain. Not sure what accent this is, but I’m here for it.
Goddamn, this was bleak.
Off topic, but I’ve been meaning to ask this since S1. On this week’s episode, the Waterfords referred to June as Offred again, a name that hasn’t been spoken in a while.
I swear the Commander’s voice is growing raspier and deeper with each passing episode
I feel terrible for Luke. He was expecting the same June, but it’s common that trauma changes someone, especially after losing a child. At the same time, Luke is different while raising a child of another father while his wife is on hostage, like the Undoing, but the wife isn’t dead.
It’s nice to see so many American-made brands of food have survived the fall of the US. The Florida Gators may not be a thing, but at least there’s Gatorade.
