I actually think the stronger - and still dangerous - factor here is him being on the rebound. He and Danica Patrick were in a years-long relationship and evidently broke up last summer. Now he’s engaged to somebody he’s maybe been dating less than a year? Seems like he’s got those rose-colored rebound glasses on.

Oh, I suspect the green beans were boiled in a ton of bacon and pork rendering - they were in no way healthy. Which is why I will actually miss them. But definitely not as much as the dirty (Cajun) rice.

It reminds me of a quote I heard attributed to Nia Vardalos, of My Big Fat Greek Wedding fame - she struggled in Hollywood because she was funny and talented, but she was either “too fat or not fat enough”.

YAS! the traction alopecia! Whenever I see her ponytail and hairline, that’s all I can think about! It upsets me so much in someone so young. But she still has time to prevent it!

Same about the show, though I did enjoy it, and its diversity - for the episodes I watch. As to talent, she’s a singer and songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and the show has let her write songs for it, so that’s pretty cool for a 17-year-old!

I’m underwhelmed by “Best Friend” - Doja Cat’s “Bottom Bitch” is a muuuuch better ode to ride-or-die female friendship, and the video feels more authentic to all the hijinks you can get into with your BFF:

I know the activity would be preventative, but I’m also thinking about being on your feet in performances and rehearsals for long periods, and cramped, pinched shoes...injuries. Maybe it wouldn’t be veins, but I would expect a lot more wear and tear.

Like so many words, I think nappy can mean different things in different contexts. I think it’s about the intent. I have two children’s books with “nappy” in the title, and they’re celebrations of black hair - attempts to reclaim the word from its negative connotations, many of which have taken firm hold in the black

Maybe she’s never done anything on her face, but her legs? I’m not buying it. I don’t see how you can have been a professional dancer and not have the varicose/spider veins to prove it. Compression socks all your life, maybe?

I’m here for it.

It always really annoyed me that, despite Parminder Nagra’s compelling lead performance, this movie catapulted the career of Keira Knightley instead. This is absolutely not a knack on KK’s talent, but more of what I consider to be the racism of the British and American film industries at that time.

Came her to mention that love triangle. The fact that this great essay about the movie mentioned so many things other than her liking the coach shows how really unnecessary that subplot was to the film (in addition to having Jules like him as well). Unnecessary, and though some folks may not have considered it so at

Oh, that’s fascinating (and heartbreaking). I always thought “my daddy” was a jazzy-ish reference to her man, AKA her lover.

With her foster care, intimate partner abuse, and houselessness history, Tiffany Haddish seems like an incredibly resilient person. Maybe that explains her capacity for optimism.

C’mon. Of course words can mean different things in different contexts. It’s why a man might call his wife “sweetheart” at home, but probably refrain from calling someone “sweetheart” at work.

It’s not Stephen, it’s “STEEEEVENNN”

I am both fascinated and terrified by your knowledge and advice about this.

Thank you! Appreciate the correction, and learning more about this.

VH1 did a great BTS special about the movie back in the day and I think they mentioned it!
