That’s a good hypothesis but not supported by actual evidence, particularly young white voters. This article spells out the numbers pretty well.

For starters, to “throw the case out” in “5 seconds” would require a court to grant judgment on the pleadings which is not likely in a defamation suit of any kind, including those involving a public figure.

It’s how defamation lawsuits work.

In Missouri, appealing to minority voters is likely a negative thing. The state is 80% white and of that 80%, I bet most of it is racist as Hell. Missouri seems to be going backward at an incredible rate.

In states that lean red, running to the left of the GOP candidate is the best you’re likely to get and have a chance of winning. The idea that anyone could run on AOC’s platform in Missouri (or Indiana or any other district that’s remotely like them) and win is absurd.

Teachers are striking over the need for smaller class sizes and the continued privatization of the country’s second-largest public school system, as charter schools (supported by a newly-installed Walton Family-funded school board) continue to siphon students and space from public schools, depriving them of state

I think people like McCaskill have quite a bit to say. If they couldn’t win in their state, there’s no fucking way someone like AOC ever could. That’s the gist of their message and while it seems to me that warning should be obvious to everyone, I’m not sure it is.

Have fun spending a ton of money to defend it simply because you don’t understand basic journalism.

It won’t work that way. As people age, they tend to become more conservative. So the idea that everyone that doesn’t think like a 20 year old will die and when they pass their ideology will go away are hopelessly optimistic.

He’s saying that she’s going to fall as far as she’s risen when she gets her “comeuppance”.

Most reputable news sources are concerned about things like defamation, libel and slander and are very careful how they phrase things.

LOL - he knows what he’s doing with Pelosi.  He’s always bet that the Democrats would cave if he kept the government shutdown long enough.  That’s still his plan and he appears to be doubling-down on it.  This style of negotiating has been around forever and is a basic part of game theory.  He knows what he’s doing.

Right, I agree that pretending the benefits from the USCMA will pay for the wall is just political bullshit Trump’s using as a shield to hide behind.  My only point is that I don’t think refusing to pass it benefits anyone from any party.

So is 2019.  And 2021.  Stupid is the new normal.

Mexico, Canada and US have already agreed to the terms in USCMA and signed the agreement. It just hasn’t been passed by Congress. So, the deal is in place and I don’t see why anyone would urge Congress not to pass it.  I’m not sure I am following your argument.  I understand its not ratified yet but it seems like a

No, walking away is a negotiating tactic. It’s a basic concept in game theory, which particularly applies in nuclear arms talks.

lol - I understand and I think I’m arguing a point you’re not making. The OP suggested:

I don’t think revising NAFTA was pure Trump. Even Sanders was in favor of that. Trump saying that the USMCA would be an indirect way to pay for the wall is pure Trump, but it’s mostly bullshit.  I still don’t think it makes sense for Democrats to block passage of everything unless Trump caves on the wall or whatever.

I say we all chip in to send HamNo to a community college so he can learn basic economics.

His goal is simply to put pressure on Democrats. He’s made it clear he won’t negotiate and his belief all along was that Democrats would cave to him. He thinks that time is on his side and, in his mind, so are voters.
