UPDATE: They were able to make it out this evening and are en route to San Antonio for a flight to Delaware

Just minutes ago got verification that they were able to get past all the obstacles (flooded in neighborhood, flooded in town, then all the closed roads) and are on their way to San Antonio for their flight to Delaware. I am so relieved!

In and around my little town...

Cabin fever is definitely setting in. The only saving grace in this shit storm is that I haven’t lost power and it isn’t 105 degress.

He looks like Haley Joel Osment playing a frat boy fraudster. I can’t stand the sight of him.

Cajun Navy rolled into my town earlier today. I believe they were able to get out so they can make their way to catch a flight, trying to verify, but I think they will make it.

Indeed. Shockingly Ted Cruz’ office was receptive and seemed to have the intention of lending assistance. I still loathe him and wouldn’t vote for him but at least some people in his office aren’t total assholes.

I believe they were able to make it out this evening, still trying to verify that. If not I will be hounding whoever will listen.

Hilltop is holding out, water seems to be receeding around town, and dad is stable. Thank you!

I spoke someone in Cruz’s office yesterday and they were, despite my distate for him, very symathetic and behaved as if they were actually going to try and get something done. I am trying to verify that they were able to make it out this evening.

I am trying to verify that they were picked up this evening, I believe the finally were.

Yeah, so, as some people are literally floating away from their flooded homes maybe now is not the time for a fucking FLOTUS hat. I know there is no real connection there but still, come on.

Talk about a captive audience. And here in my little town a childhood friend is having a hard time finding a way to get out of a flooded area so he can get to the funeral of his son who is one of the sailors who died on the USS McCain. My message to the White House in regards to his situation were (shock, shock)

He had to be taken by ambulance to a hospital two hours North as complications from his condition worsened. My sister and her husband stayed with his dogs. All roads between his home and mine (all roads anywhere, really) rapidly became impassable.

Come on now, I think we all know who is actually the most terrifying evil clown.

Yeah, that “Thanks!” threw me too, much like when he said, also about this disaster, “We have great talent on the ground.” Nonsense. Utter nonsense.

That about sums it up.

And one of my old childhood friends is the father of one of the sailors that died on the USS McCain and is flooded in in our little town north of Houston desperately trying to find a way to get out and get to San Antonio for a flight to go to his son’s funeral on Wednesday. That isn’t important but this blowhard

“We have great talent on the ground” Talent? In this situation what does that even mean? And I am seeing reports that 45 is coming to Houston tomorrow. We are literally still rescuing people off their rooftops around here and this douche is going to come and suck up resources for what will essentially be a campaign

I think you may be missing a big part of my point in that many poor people do not have mortgages thus have not been required to purchase flood insurance or indeed any insurance. Also, my half-hearted googling shows no such law in Maryland that requires anyone to purchase renter’s insurance. Landlords can require it
