It was more a murder prevention, with Paxton being the victim in the past. It was OK as a movie, but - yeah. The movie was actually pretty good, undeserved by a poor ad campaign. The murder mystery aspect sneaks up on you and is probably one of the better applications of the butterfly effects in fiction.

There’s a movie called Fluke that’s about a guy who dies and then comes back as a dog and has to prove that the guy his wife is now with caused his death. It was a tear jerker from what I remember. Haven’t seen it in probably 20 years.
