“I’m mostly mad at merchandising, though.”

I would blame one person for this: Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter. By most press accounts, he’s the reason there were no Black Widow toys, even for the Avengers 2 bike pack. Because of his involvement with the film division, and stance that “girls don’t buy toys,”

Uh...I didn’t mention that scene in my comment. I hated the way she was written in that movie for many other reasons. Joss Whedon was way too invested in his personal ship of Bruce/Natasha. Creepily so. I’m mostly mad at merchandising, though.

It was a mess for other reasons too. One of the best examples of the consequences of ignoring the “show, don’t tell” writing advice too. We witness the aftermath of all sorts of terrible things happening in oz, but are then forced to listen to characters talk about what happened instead of actually seeing it.

To be honest - it is a hard calculus going on whether it is good move or not. On the one hand BP was at the height of blockbuster season and CM was at the start of the winter run. Which puts them in a great place just to ride the seasonal surges, but at the same it means they are competing with all the other big 4

It’s Black History Month. On the nose, but I think that’s actually kinda dope.

I was a little surprised that CJA was surprised at Coulson’s cold-bloodedness. He had zero problem killing Garrett, Whitehall, the various Hydra dudes he had Hunter and Bobbi kill. Ward’s past association probably does more harm than good in Coulson’s eyes.

May and Hunter teamed up last season to rescue Bobbi from Ward and 33. And they spent some time together when Bobbi was getting intel from Toshiro Mori about the splinter bombs...very funny moment when May told Hunter she didn’t like him.

Ironically, if you look at the stuff they actually put out IN the ‘90s, it did not look like the other “generic 90s stuff.” I’d recommend checking out that stuff first. Here is a good start:

Bloodshot and Rai are two separate characters who both happened to get the same nanite treatement that leaves a big red circular scar in the middle of their chest. Rai is the defender of Japan in the 4001st Century.

I had the same exact peeve about Valiant comics. BUT I gave Ninjak a try, and it’s pretty good. And his design is bad ass, much improved from his nineties one. And check out Book of the Death.

If you want a comic book with a really cool design, I would recommend getting The Death Defying Doctor Mirage. She has a really cool costume and it is a really great story. Archer & Armstrong and Ivar, Timewalker, on the other hand, doesn’t really have any costumes, because they aren’t about superheroes really, but

Ninjak was a cool design, but Mortal Kombat kinda stole it.

I agree completely. There were some films that had great ideas but the moviegoers never showed up to see it. I was listening to a podcast about these kinds of things, and a movie popped into my head that would be perfect for a remake. It was called Short Time, from either 1989 or 1990. Dabney Coleman is a cop about to
