Yeah, not being an American may have helped - it absolutely does not read like a GOP movie to me, but then again, my grasp of American political dynamics pre-Obama is loose. I know the big events and the main trends, but none of the details or the people involved beyond the presidents.

The fact they can all speak English wasn’t a problem, it’s that without the added American, there is no reason for them to speak English. Then again, that doesn’t usually stop Hollywood - the Black Panther movies are full of scenes where Wakandans talking to other Wakandans in Wakanda speak English.

Are you sure? Because I read they did not have the rights to the sequel. The book’s original author was supposed to get a percentage of the profits on the first movie, but thanks to Hollywood accounting, the movie made no profits. So when they tried to buy the rights to the second book, he told them to take a hike.

I have a soft spot for Forrest Gump because I had a really amazing “20th century” elective class in my senior year of high school, and the teacher used a different scene of Forrest Gump as a jumping point almost every other class. I still own a copy (it survived my apartment’s flooding last year) though the box didn’t,

For all of The Mummy Returns* and Tomb of Dragon Emperor’s flaws, I will give them huge props for keeping Rick and Evie together.

Oh, so that’s where National Treasure 2 got that idea. I’ve seen Jewel of the Nile, I don’t remember anything from it. In fact, as of 5 minutes ago, I thought Omar Shariff was the romantic villain. To my defense, the character is called Omar and Shariff was an absolute cad in real life, so it was an easy mistake.

If the presence of supernatural is the criteris to get on the list, then National Treasure, The Goonies, Tomb Raider 2018 and Uncharted shouldn’t be on this list.

Yup. You don’t cast Sean Connery as an MI6 agent and not want it to be read as Bond.

I’m not even sure I’d agree thrmey’d be confused generally. Because by the time a new Wonder Woman movies comes out, for example, it’s gonna be easily 7-8 years since her last movie (small cameos don’t count). By that time, people will have absolutely forgotten WW84 - they’ll just see a new Wonder Woman movie starring

It’s kinda both a prequel and a remake. It’s what happened at the Norwegian camp before the events of the Carpenter movie. But they toss in an American guest researcher so everyone has an excuse to speak English, and pretty much the same sequence of events as the Carpenter film happens.

What is it called? Or are we talking bout the circa 2011 "prequel" also called The Thing?

It’s the story of 5 people in jeopardy as a result of a billionaire business man creating an exclusive tourist attraction based on advanced but untested technology who ignored all warnings by experts and spared a lot of expense when it comes to security.

Where the hell is Romancing the Stone (and its sequel)? As far as Indy imitators go, it’s not only the first out of the gate, but it was also very influential in its own right. Half the adventure movies on this list steals its its romance dynamic.

They own the rights to make movies starring Spider-Man. Marvel still owns Spider-Man.

My rule of thumb for tjis kind of thing as always been “ If it!s sound exactly like something a fan came up in a commemt section based on existing material, it’s probably false.”

SPOILERS FOR THE GOOD PLACE BELOW!!

He’s a Spanish-lamguage musical artist. That’s all I know. But apparently he’s getting big and trying to get into movies. He was in Bullet Train earlier this year.

I thought the project was first and foremost a vehicle for Bad Bunny, and not really about El Muerto. Has the Bad Bunny hype died since then?

Oh, I love the “James Bond is a codename” idea, even if, yeah, the text contradicts it - in addition to what you mentionne, in a A View to a Kill, Moneypenny directly refers to the fact that she’s much older than she was when Bond and her started working together, and in License to Kill, Felix Leiter refers to Bond

Akshually.... it’s Milf Manor.
