The “problem” the Jedi purge always had is that it was clearly initially set up in A New Hope as something that happened over a very long period of time, and the time were there were 100 000 Jedi in the galaxy is very far in the rear view mirror. You can most likely skip it, but honestly? It’s no worse than Temple of Doom. It has a few interesting elements, Cate Blanchett is a fun villain, for one, and it’s fun to see Marion again. Is it great? No. Is it an unholy abomination? No.

Your Mummy example doesn’t make any sense. The problem with Maria Bello isn’t that she doesn’t look like Rachel Weisz, it’s that she lacked chemistry with Fraser and Hannah, and that the script gave her nothing to do.
