There's always something you can point to that the victim did "wrong." It's like, not a TV movie, and circumstances are messy. It's hard to find a "perfect" example of a "perfect" woman who was raped or killed, because there's no such thing. These things happen to real people.

I can't help but think that the reason so many women are so quick to point out the victims' mistakes in cases like this is just a distancing effect to make themselves feel safer. After all, if this happened to this girl because she went home with a strange guy, and you don't do that, then it won't happen to you right?…
