Uh duh, that's the point. Real journalism involves getting dirty sometimes, as opposed to spending time writing self righteous pieces about why Steven Universe is more important than Game of Thrones, or whatever happens to be in the features section this week.

Who specifically would you put against it? Don't say this place, since they changed the comments to threads, pretty much every thread turns into a circle jerk of some kind or other.

It already is - I mean, have you blocked out, like, every Read This and For Our Consideration article from the last two years? Vast parts of this site are now basically Slate or Salon without the politics.

They broke a lot of big stories though, including the bias on Facebook news which was, what, earlier this year? And the writing quality's up there with anyone.

Gawker has the best and wittiest commenters on the web, and the trolls are mostly locked away in the grey areas of Kinja anyway.

A million times, yes.

Nah, gotta be Heyman on Smackdown again, especially as Brock's going to be paying more attention to MMA.

It's a pretty good column but it's better to treat it as a psychiatric study than a critical examination or a laugh fest.

Taylor Swift is so white bread mediocre though. I get why people might like her but I never understood the critical love-in for her stuff.

I didn't bother clicking through but the examples above were pretty mild. 'I don't think this movie is for me' 'This executive producer is chiefly interested in royalties!' Guessing the actual thread is more vehement?

IS he a good ruler of Latveria? He's ertainly effective but the society barely seems to have moved on from medieval times and personal liberty is pretty much non-existent.

Nah, Smith is already working on a shoddy MS Paint picture of Jay and Silent Bob in black leather drag standing next to a tombstone with 'CHYNA 1971-2016' on it, a solitary tear running down Silent Bob's face.

Half that stuff is from the mid-90's, which was unarguably a great time in music. The late 90's was dross, apart from a few decent hip hop and (mostly British) guitar albums.

I assumed he'd be forced put and taken on as the new Pied Piper CEO.

Johnny Thunders apparently, or at least they stole the whole look and mannerisms of the character from him.

Gavin Belson will be appointed the new CEO, or will try his best to get the position. That's my prediction.

"The AVClub turned into Kotaku so gradually, I didn't even notice."

Agreed. If there's one common thread that runs through the show, it's that life takes you in strange directions sometimes and even though you don't expect where you end up, it's maybe for the best. Ted and the Mother had some great years together, a really good marriage. It's not like it ended in bitterness and mutual

There wasn't much of one anyway. Elastica, Sleeper and Echobelly were all pretty big, and that's before you get on to the smaller scene bands like Powder or Fluffy (but you really don't want to do that). It wasn't until the late nineties that Britpop got superceded by dadrock.

I think he also said that he quite liked Carol, but that it was another instance of Todd Haynes playing dress up with his dolls, an analysis that's vicious, spiteful and completely dead on.
