Honestly, the finale has somewhat tainted all the good work of season 3 for me. I think i'll just pretend we ended at season 2 and hope that the licensed comic is rock solid.

I thought she was quite good and certainly, again, they were laying the groundwork for more (or even an Eva Green-less season 4).

A complete travesty but again I think scheduling might have something to do with it. Also I read that Logan had delegated writing duties for the first time this season which might explain the bizarre dip in quality.

I have a feeling that the show has fallen fowl to many factors it couldn't help such as actor/creator schedules and lack of assurances from Showtime. I'm furious but not unaware of the chores and practicalities of making such a show and with such high calibre talent.

The point, I imagine, was that there was more planned. Or perhaps a failsafe for an Eva Green-less season 4?

Okay, I've had a chance to watch the finale and jesus fucking christ this was a mess.

I've always felt that Penny Dreadful is tonally a match to Mignola's work (soundtrack by Florence + the Machine).

I demand a Lyle Spin-Off,

there's something more, still, with her half-revealed origin story in the highlands but I'm sure well get to it eventually if she (or indeed the entire show) survive till season 4.

That and her speech to John Clare last season, with her old Jamaican accent coming through, have been highlights.
