ah ha ha ha, GAPB, but its coasterism is not born of pretension, but utility.  we have cheapo soft-top ottomans from ikea that function as pseudo coffee tables, and as a former library model it has a plastic cover over the book jacket.  in addition, it's the right thickness and size so my feet can fit on the ottoman…

I wish there was a televised Nobel awards ceremony (don't tell me if there is) and I wish Kanye would interrupt her.

cool story, I use an old hardcopy library edition of Portnoy's Complaint as a coaster, which surprises and delights those guests to my home who enjoy that sort of thing.

this is awesome. although I am for the most part a philistine so my opinion should be discounted, I've loved what I've read by her (for the record, Friend of My Youth and Runaway).  in short, she gets what's wrong with people, and writes it down well.

….that reminds me, I will use this opportunity to pitch my new show idea, Watt and Hawk.  It will feature JJ Watt and AJ Hawk, and will be about two big white guys, solving crimes. well, one guy is much bigger.

eh, only if you like hot dudes with beards.  look, I like to get serious and talk about history/alternate history/tropes of the genre/similarities to Fringe, all that stuff, but sometimes like-minded adults just want to get together and talk about hot dudes with beards.

I took a break after 3, then slogged through 4 recently. I think I'll wait till 6 is about to come out before I jump into 5. 

I would love to participate at some point in the future, provided I could get my shit together.
