I don't see a lot of "Fuck Peter Parker", more "Miles Morales is great". And I'm kinda torn on it, because I think Peter Parker is one of the greatest characters in super-hero comics…but what's left to do with him? After his current status quo runs its course, you can't return him to being a lovable loser AGAIN.

Well, he also can't shit on *himself* too much while promoting a new special. "Yeah, I made a show that was really shitty and unfunny. So please watch my special on Netflix!"

Cheers is kinda atypical for a multi-cam show, especially compared to modern ones. Look at how dark and cavernous that set was!

Yeah, I grok that, I'm just trying to demonstrate that it's not very easy to play "Concept in search of a character". Which also augers against this storyline, to the extent that that is what Hopeless is doing (and as I haven't read SW, and I'm not going to, I have no idea what that extent is).

I dunno, Logan has certainly been a father figure more than enough times.

Probably because all 3 of those characters have at least one significant romantic partner. In those cases, "What does T'Challa/Black Bolt/Peter think?" is a reasonable question.

I think that's all in the execution, though. There's no reason AVC couldn't get someone insightful and prod them with interesting questions.

"Every other Marvel hero wants to kill Tony Stark" has basically been the through-line of the MU for the last ten years or so.

I think the bigger deal is that, when Superman kills, it's a big deal that haunts him (giving him a psychotic break in one case), whereas in MoS, his "code" isn't even established, its a contrived as hell situation, and he's making kissy faces in like, the next scene.

Who cares that Congress didn't ratify it? Congress fails to ratify a great many worthwhile statements, and I'm sure we could agree on a long list of things it has ratified that are worthless. It doesn't get the final word on American values.

Ha ha, OK, whatever, dude.

(Working backwards in time, so that was Obama '12, Obama '08, Kerry, and Gore.)

I just checked, and the last 4 Dem POTUS candidates won the woman vote with 55%, 56%, 51%, and 50%.

But Trump is "saying that it is not the immigrants that will benefit America", not that they're all criminals.

Especially given that, based on the sketches, this cast just isn't very political. Which is fine; SNL is an oddly insane pressure-cooker of a show, I don't need everyone on there (or ANYONE on there) to be Chomsky.

"He is saying that it is not the immigrants that will benefit America."

Oh, well, if you work in an office with women…

"When your wheelhouse is mainly progressive you begin to think what Trump represents is not largescale. This is optimistic so of course it is wrong."

So, because of social media, young voters, hands down the most diverse and tolerant electoral cohort, are going to vote for Trump? You're going to have to walk me through that.

He's not really doing that here, either. In fact, with a very small amount of page real-estate, I think CA:SW does a very good job giving both Steve and Sam a point. Sam's line about believing versus hoping really sums it up.
